Default Furious!!!!

I am so freaking pissed I can't even see straight!! Rylie and Peyton went to my girlfriends on Wednesday and spent the day cuz JJ had his well baby. My GF's mother is a barber and has been cutting the boys and Bobby's hair for 13 years now occasionally giving Sadie a quick trim if needed. Well she called me up just after Bobby dropped them off that morning (she does home daycare) and said her mom was coming by to give the kids haircuts. We had just tried to go down to her shop the previous weekend with Peyton but she was closed so I said yes definitely PEYTON needed a trim badly. So we went to pick them up at 5 and as soon as we walked in Peyton came over running and we made a huge deal over his hair then all of the sudden Rylie comes over saying I got my hair cut too. At first it didn't even click, then I looked up at her. OMFG they cut her hair - I think butchered it is a better description!!!!! My heart stopped and I swear steam must have been coming from my ears - I almost burst out in tears. I just couldn't believe it. I didn't want to make a huge scene as their was other moms there plus she had company but I managed to muster out why in the world. All she said was it was just the dead ends and she really needed it, she kept brushing it out of her face and it was annoying her. All I could do was gather up our stuff and get out of there as fast as I could.

I am so f'ing mad! Her hair not only looks terrible but that was her first hair cut (which I did NOT want her getting her hair cut at all and did not give my permission to do it) but it's a big deal and something I am always there for taking pictures, etc. We were so excited that it was finally getting longer and a little less nappy, that we could put barrettes in it and it looked cute and I just ADORED the spirl curls that hung down her forehead. I knew when we were ready to cut it that she would need to see a professional who had experience with tight curly hair or we would end up with this. I was going through old pics and no joke it is way shorter now than it was when JJ was born. All the long spirl curls are gone and they cut her "bangs" so short that she is literally ALL forehead - they took off several inches! All it is, is one big thick nappy poof and it's bad not to mention I think really uneven on the sides!!

I don't know what to do now other than cry, I absoultely HATE it!! I don't know whether we need to take her to a professional and get it even/fixed which is going to mean more needs to be cut off or do we just leave it and wait another freaking year for it to get back to where it was???

I know my GF is going to call today - she knew I was pissed and I don't even know what to say to her - I actually don't even want to talk to her.

Here are some pics - it actually looks a little longer than it really is in this pic cuz she had her head tilted up some. What the hell do I do???

Just recently..

and now..

Oh my gosh Donna... I wish I could tell you that I can't see a difference, but I actually do. I see what you mean about it not laying right and being too round and full. Any "barber" with any kind of common sense would know that super tight, curly hair should be grown out long and even though it might "look" untamed, it's actually finally managable. Hell, even I know that.

I think you should talk to your girlfriend.... maybe not today, but in a few days and just explain to her how absolutely unexceptable it was of her to allow her mom to cut Rylie's hair without talking to you first, and that while it may take you a while to forgive her, you will in your own time.

I really feel awful for you and Rylie and I'm so sorry.

Oh I would be LIVID!!!! It doesn't look horrible but you can see a big difference. Maybe you could take her to a kids cut kind of place and see if they can do something? But then I would be afraid they would cut it shorter and make it look poofier. Does it help if you put moose or Gel in it?

Oh yeah and in regards to cutting it... I don't know... I think you should let it grow out for now and take her to a professional in a few months. It needs to grow out before it gets cut again, IMO.

I'm sorry. I would not be happy either. It did look better BEFORE they cut it IMO too. I think I would let it grow out awhile before doing anything with it. You could look around for a place that knows how to cut that kind of hair and see what they think.

I haven't cut Liriel's hair yet either, tough I'm thinking I'll need to have her get it trimmed before I do the 3-year photos. But she doesn't have those beautiful curles that Miss Rylie has. In fact, what little curl she does have will probably get chopped off. Never to be seen again.

OMG Donna - I don't know what to say. I'd be pretty pissed too. Maybe your GF didn't know that her mom was cutting it so short?

I'd definately let it grow out, cutting it more could make it worse.
