Okay I came across another message board dedicated to pregnant smokers!?!?!
And, no, they weren't encouraging each other to quit. It is more of talk such as what's your brand, how often you smoke, if you've told your doctor, etc.
OMG!! I dont know if I could of stopped myself from posting something.. It makes me ILL to see a preggo smoking.. When I was in the hospital after having Ty there was a mom/baby in the next room and the baby cried the whole time all the time and I finally asked the nurse what was up and she told me it was b/c the baby was having nicotine withdrawls.. UGH!!! selfish...

Quitting isn't necessarily easy. But would be nice if they were at least trying to support each other to cut down on how much they were smoking and hopefully working towards quiting. But I've run into people in my town who was smoking away and I knew she was TTC and her sister just had twins and her sister smoked and the twins being small "had nothing to do with her sister smoking." I should have asked who her OB was so that I could avoid them.

I agree its not easy. My mom smoked for 20+ years and managed to quite 5 years ago and she still get the urge. And I know its easy for me to say to just quit since I never had any kind of addiction. but Its another life your quitting for, That just seems to be a top priority.

I was a smoker, but I quit right around the time of my . I just couldn't keep smoking. There is plenty of research out there on how harmful it is, and it isn't just what most think of. My depression propensity is probably caused by my mother smoking. Along with a whole host of things (I weighed 4 POUNDS LESS than my brother and she quit smoking when she found out about him), just the thought of purposefully puffing away on something so toxic while growing a person, yuck. My doc offered me medications to quit, but I was able to do it cold turkey. Meds would be better than smokes. Cigs have so many other chemicals that are unhealthy in them. Nicotine is almost the least worrisome.
I would hope they would at least be trying to cut down.
I was a smoker when I got pregnant with Jessie. For me it was a no brainer, I quit as soon as I got my BFP.
I am a little weird. I think once you are growing a child within your body your owe that child every chance at a healthy start. Kind of crazy, I know.
I have seen a pregnant women somking and wished I could slap it right out of her mouth!!
My husbands sister smoked through all three of her pregnancies and then acted all offended when I was preggo and asked her not to smoke right next to me.
