I really blame myself for being lazy. The floors need to be vaccumed, I haven't moped my floors in I can't tell you when. Every afternoon Dean gets a small bowl of a snack, and he spills them on the tile, and then eats them. The tile is sooo nasty. I jsut cna't figure out a good time to do it. When the day is over and the kids are in bed, I just want to crash on the couch. It's gonna be sooo hard when DH goes back to school....

I can understand, but I can't stand for my house not to be clean. I didn't say it's perfect. I just tackle one thing a day and keep my kitchen clean everyday. That seems to keep my house tidy.
Have you thought about having Mike help you? My girls love to dust. They even sweep, of course I have to resweep. I also have them race around picking up the crap that they have brought into the living area. You can set a timer or put on some fast music and dance around with him. If you make it fun he will be willing to help and NO he's not too young.

I just thought of another thing. They love to vaccum!! The only place we have carpet is in the bedrooms. If they want to vaccum they have to clean their room. They don't do a perfect job, but they get it good enough and they are proud that they did it.

Cleaning is a never ending story. Megan will never keep her room clean and DH has turned to the nursery into his own personal closet. I try to keep the kitchen, bathroom and living room clean all the time becasue if i have compant those are the three areas they will be.

Thomas and Lauryn help me a little. Thomas has a behaviour chart and if he doesn't mind (like pick up his toys when I ask) he gets a black mark against him for the day (3 black marks = red day, <3 black marks = green day and 10 green days = treat/prize/fun activity of his choice). This has really helped with keeping his toys picked up. Lauryn likes to help wipe things down and vacuum. I got her an electric sweeper for her birthday.

For a while there, I was popping Josi in the sling, and turning her to be on my back. Then I'd vac the floors or stairs, sweep and mop, do dishes. It was the one thing that surprised me, that I could do it, and that Josi would sometimes fall asleep!
Just give yourself a goal of a clean kitchen at first, then once you get that, slowly work on getting other areas. I would tackle bathrooms next. Those are the two rooms that people tend to notice if they are messy/dirty most. Take it in 15 minute spurts, set a timer. It helps to do it like that, makes it less oppressive. The harder it seems to be, it can actually tire you out mentally!
