Default Should I feel sorry for him or....

...just for sheer stupidity?! The fool (DB) appears to have re-torn his Achilles tendon last night. Maybe I can feel sorry for him as I him?! And what did he get for tearing his tendon? $51. So subtract that from the $16,000 for surgery and he's only $15,949 in the hole. Such a great idea that was. And he thinks he is so smart.

Yikes!!! WTH was he doing to re-injur?? Holy geez!

I've been out of my cast and in running shoes for weeks... now I'm starting to wear sandals again, and it's awesome. It's SO freakin' HOT.... I can't deal with gym shoes!

Is he going to have to have surgery AGAIN??

Umping a church league softball game. Wasn't doing much that should have reinjured it. But he has been having some problems with since the cast came off. He tells me this morning that they told him before the surgery that some times they attach it too tight and have to redo the surgery.

He was adamant this morning about refusing to wear a cast again. If he refuses to wear a cast, I'm sure they won't redo the surgery.

Well he called physical therapy today and told them what happened and they got him into the doctor instead this afternoon. They have him scheduled for an MRI later today to see what is up with his leg, but they think it tore above where he tore it before. Which means the whole tendon / muscle area has problems. But nothing he could really have done to prevent it as it could have easily happened in PT today if it hadn't happened last night. He will know more after he talks to the doctor again - since the MRI person doesn't tell you anything. But they are talking surgery again on Thursday (assuming he can get the same deal for financing it) and then no Physical therapy for a couple months. So will that mean they expect him to be in a regular cast for 3 months? I sure as heck hope not.

Getting old bites! Or should I say is a royal pain!

Oh... man!! What a drag!!

FWIW - I had knee surgery in 2004 and I was in an immobilizing brace for a very long time. I was on crutches for months... and I wasn't even "allowed" to start PT for a month after surgery, due to the chances of injuring myself again.

I'm surprised that with such a major thing as the achilles... they had him start PT right away!

Poor guy!

His first PT was the day they took the cast off - which was 6 weeks after surgery. So his surgery was about 8 weeks ago. Part of the problem is him not grasping that he really needed to take it easy on his leg and let it heal. He has ALWAYS pushed himself when he has been injured. Played football (and other sports) with many serious game related injuries in his younger days (High School / College). IMO he is paying for that now - well actually he's been paying for it for years. Part of the reason he didn't finish college was because of a long term concussion he received in a football game. Failed that whole quarter because he couldn't learn anything new. Doesn't even remember what he did for those few months following the injury. They had to bench him for the rest of the Football season because he couldn't even learn a new play.
