So today my Mom, Brody and I were at a stop light waiting to turn left. I looked in my rear view mirror and noticed that a car was approaching awfully fast and before I knew it, she had hit us! It was an 18 year old who was learning how to drive and her Mom was in the passenger seat. The girl never got out of the car to say she was sorry. The mother got out, looked at the back of my car, came to me and said "I am teaching my daughter how to drive. There is no damage to your vehicle, can we go?" and I said "No, I am calling the police." She was at fault and I wasn't going to let her just drive away! AND they NEVER said they were sorry! So we pulled into a parking lot near by, they daughter got out and went into the passenger's seat, I guess to make it look like the Mom was driving. The Mom came to me and said "Do you just want to make sure everything is alright, is that why you called the police?" And I said "Yes. I want to file a report." So then she got back into her car and started laughing with her daughter, yes laughing! Grr! My baby was in the car! Needless to say, we are all alright, thank god. And there IS damage to the vehicle.. that I am on the phone with their insurance company right now. It just urks me the way the lady acted, how neither said they were sorry and how they were laughing because I called the police. I wanted to give her a piece of my mind so badly... I don't even think the police officer gave her a ticket!

That's just great! Mom is rewarding bad behavior and setting an awful example. This is one of the reasons there are so many self centered, irresponsible kids and adults in the world. I'm glad you called the cops. she should've gotten out and appologized. I hope you told the officer who was actually driving the car. I don't know if you want the insurance company to know though, because she may not be covered and you probably wouldn't get any money to fix your car.

It sucks they didn't get a ticket, but around here if the cops don't see it, they can't ticket.
I say really stick it to her, you are so getting the best BRITAX for Brody now! Yep, they need to replace the car seat, it's required due to the accident. Boo-yaa bitch ass mom and crappy teenaged brat! Take that!

I'm sorry. I'm glad every one is OK. Some times though you could have minor injuries and not notice it for a day or two, depending on how hard they hit you. Rather sad they were so rude. The mother sure wasn't teaching her child very good driving behavior there.
But considering the way laws are today, appologizeing is admiting error and that can actually go against you in a court. Sad.

I wasn't sure about the rule of thumb for replacing carseats... I filed a claim against her insurance this evening and the company said that the carseast would be "inspected" and determined whether or not it was safe... It better be safe/replaced! I need that for the next kid! I know.. she definitely was not setting an example for her daughter.. argh
