so I'm going to let it rip!!

I can't take anymore!! I am tired of being strong for everyone! I just need 5 minutes to cry and let this all out.
My mom's surgery has been moved up to Monday. She had 2 weeks to come up with $3400. When you have no savings, this is a problem. She opened an account that is strickly for medical exspensives. Thanks to some generous people money has been coming in. She was short 1000. I made sure she would have her surgery!!
My g-mother asked to me to be the executor of their estate. For doing this I will get a set amount of money. I am also on their CD's, savings, and checking accounts. I will be in charge of all of that. The problem...they have 3 living children. I don't think they have any idea what kind of crap I will go through once this comes out. My mom will be hurt!
My poor Jessie...Seeing her go through this is hurtful. I know that these things are just words, but still. It has really hurt her.

Did my mention that my dh is not taking off to be with me at the hospital?

Okay, I can't see straight and I know my spelling is horrible. If you made it this far, thanks.

As I'm learning at present, working with an estate is way difficult. And, that's with only 2 kids who absolutely agree on *everything.* This is going to be a shitload of incredible stress for you. So, I hope your g-mother lives forever so you never have to deal with it.

My dad's estate was pretty straight forward. He had very little debt, a ton in savings, lots o' insurance, and a single solitary piece of real estate. Yet, my sister and I, who are his only beneficiaries, have gone through hell and back with this estate. Not to mention the EXTREME amount of TIME my sister has had to put in to taking care of all the outstanding bills, closing accounts, and maintaining records. I'm the older child, so I had to sign off on everything. And, we just dealt with the real estate portion of the estate.... and we no longer have *that* to deal with, so it's all smooth sailing from here.

I guess I went off on a tangent there, didn't I?

And, what's the matter with Jessie? I must have missed a post somehwere.

I hope your Mom's surgery goes well and she is better in no time flat.

I can understand why your grandmother may have picked you over her own children. Further out, less likely to argue over petty crap. Probably a less vested interest in the actual estate - assuming you are not a direct beneficiary of it. But people can get upset over the dumbest things.

Took SIX YEARS to get my grandmother's estate settled after she passed away because of petty bickering and stupid stuff between siblings - though mostly from my aunt from what I hear.

I'm sorry sweetie. I can only imagine the stree you've been under with Jessie going through that on top of your mom's surgery and everything else. I'm the executor of a family friends estate and I know it will be a huge PITA when the time comes. He has no children, but 2 very selfish/clueless siblings. I can just see the kind of resentment I'm in for. It would be a lot harder if it were family.

Thanks everyone! I'm a little embarassed. I was very tired and thought a little wine would help me unwind and sleep better.

I am so scared of what will happen when my uncles and mom find out about the will change. I know that there will be a lot of arguing over who gets what and who is intitled to what even though it is in writting. My g-parents are very smart and they are the type that take care of business. They are very upset with the lifestyles and lack of financial stabilty in their children. They see me as money smart and know I'm not going to blow every dime that comes through my hand.
I pray that they live for another 40 years. It could happen, couldn't it?
