I just found out..litterally 5 minutes ago, that this happened. Here's a little backround:

My MIL, the one I LOVE has been under soo much stress with work latley. She works out of the house. Her BF, who helped DH and I through all our marraige trouble over last summer lives with her(she moved in with him) His son, who is 14 gets into trouble in the school a lot. He's the sweetest kid...I have never seen that side of him. He's careing and loving. I would trust him with my kids. I think it's a lot of at the wrong place at the wrong time for him.

Anyway....her BF(they have been together since before I got pregnant with Mike) has been a police officer in town for nearly 30 years. He worked his way up. He;s smart, funny, charming, and professional. He has NEVER been repromanded. He went to work yesterday, and they smelled alcohol on his breath. He is a drinker, but he usually dosen't drink before work. (His shift dosen't start until 2) The stripped him of his badge and gun, and sent him home.

If he resigns, then it will be wiped off his record, being he has never been in trouble at work before, in 30 years. He teachs at the police academy, and he would still be able to do that, and keep his pension.

If they fire him because he won't resign, then he looses everything. If the union gets involved, then he has the chance of looseing everything, but since it's his first offense, they might let him off. He passed a breathalizer.

My MIL is sooo upset....she just dosen't know what to do. I don';t know how to talk to her about it. She didn't tell me, and she usually tells me everything. She called DH this morning at 8:00 and told him, she said she just needed to get it off her chest, but that he needed to tell his kids before she told her kids.

I know it's his own fault, and that he is 110% to blame. I just feel bad because they aren't bad people.....he is very close to my heart. He's one of the BEST dad's I have ever seen....

SOrry I'm rambling...i just am in shock.

I wonder if he was drinking that morning or was it from the night before? It sounds like his only choice is to resign and look for work elsewhere, but he also needs to get help for the drinking.
