Even though they'd look AWFUL in our kitchen lol, we did think about that - but my concern is that even if we have the split 3/4 of the way up, at least Cade will still be able to reach the lock and knob - he'll just grab a toy (their faves are a ride-on car, a drum, even a Bumbo turned upside down), stand on it and voila! Lock and knob within his reach.
Any locks would have to be at the very top of the doorframe. Seriously. So that rules out a split door.
My uterus is screaming at me to MAKE MORE BABIES!!
Yikes Chris!
Oh, Joe falls asleep all over the place. Once we hit his witching hour, he is useless! He did some sleep studies and he was supposed to go back. He has some form of sleep apnea. They actually put him on a type of speed because it was so bad. He may eventually end up on a CPAP (I think that's what it is called) or something. At the 'wrong' time of night, dude could fall aslee at a traffic light. Freaks me out!
I know all about kids getting in where you would rather them not. Josalyn is getting pretty close to being able to open door knobs. She also almost got over the one baby gate yesterday (to go up the stairs). Kid is almost as scarey as I was. I used to jump out of my crib at 9 months old, by 3 1/2 I was strong enough (I was a very short and skinny kid) to pull myself up onto the kitchen counters. By 7 I was climbing the doorways and hanging from the top lip and dropping down. Kids are insane!
This morning both Cade and Parker climbed over the gate at the top of the foyer steps. They of course were very quiet getting out of their room and we did not wake up until Macy started making noise on the monitor. We found the boys in the unfinished part of the lower level - they had taken Austin's 20 lb bag of food and dumped it all into his crate, gone into the family room and taken a box of the fireplace matches and dumped them into his crate and then they got a bottle of Pledge that was on DH's desk and sprayed it all over the food and matches, and Austin
DH works at home and has a little lock type thing for his computer (it has a code that changes daily and he needs the code to log on) and Cade took it and now says it's lost. We've been looking for it all morning and can't find it, so now DH either has to call in and lose money until they overnight him a new one, or drive up to Syracuse to work in the office. We're waiting to hear back from his manager.
Until we get this door alarm and make sure it works, we're going to have to set an alarm and wake up every morning at 5:30 so we can make sure we're up before them. This is just ridiculous.

We lock both of Noah's doors (main door and door to his jack & jill bathroom) everytime we put him to bed. It's maddening!
Hearing all of this makes Carson look like an angel ~ though trust me, he's not. But ever since he broke his leg he will not climb on anything and he always points out things I've accidentally left out that he shouldn't touch, like scissors and matches.
I feel for ya Chris. I really hope the alarms will be the solution to keeping your monkey's in their cage.
