Someone on FF posted this from a site they'd come across. Aside from the fact that centrifuges, even used ones, cost at least $200, this sounds like an at-home Ericsson method!
I might just be crazy enough to try something like this if we decide to go for a fourth - the ultimate science experiment! Just had to share this crazy stuff

Disclaimer: Welcome! This method for at home conception is classed as "At Home High-Tech", however this is not in anyway an infringement on those ttc through fertility clinics. We are purely ttc in our own homes, doing mad experiments in our bathrooms!!
There are 2 separate methods for ttc in this thread......Gradient Density Centrifuge for ttc a dd and/or Spinning to Stress and Modified Swim-Up for ttc a ds. Below are instructions on how to perfom each, as well as the stats.
This method is for ttc a dd. The principle of this method is that the X-bearing sperm are heavier than the Y-bearing sperm, due to more DNA. Using the G force of the centrifuge, a higher ratio of the X-bearing sperm will sediment in the bottom of the test tube, after being through each layer of the 3 step Gradient Density (sucrose solution). Lime (being an acidic substance) is then added to the bottom sediment and TBM is then used.
For this method you will need:
Centrifuge
Test tube with stopper/lid (2 required if you have a centrifuge that needs balancing - ie, more than one position for the tube)
Bottled distilled water
Caster sugar, or a fine grade of sugar
Cup or condom for dh's sample
3 x medicine droppers
1 needless syringe OR douche bottle (for douching)
Bottled lime juice
pH strips
Optional: Microscope (best magnification between 100x - 300x)
Optional: Insert Replens or Rephresh (finger tip amount) every 3 days
Sucrose Recipes:
50% solution = 3 tablespoons & 1 teaspoon of SUGAR + 3 tablespoons & 1 teaspoon of DISTILLED WATER.
45% solution = 3 tablespoons of SUGAR + 3 tablespoons & 2 teaspoons of DISTILLED WATER.
40% solution = 2 tablespoons & 2 teaspoons of SUGAR + 4 tablespoons of DISTILLED WATER.
** Dissolve each solution in a cup, which is held in a bowl of hot water. You may need to stir each solution until it is completely dissolved. The solutions should be CLEAR when completed.
The Method:
Step 1: Dh to DTD in a cup or condom.
Step 2: Layer the test tube with sucrose solutions. *These solutions should be warmed to body temperature.* First put the 50% solution on the bottom (0.25mls), then gently place the 45% solution on top of this (0.25mls), and then the 40% solution as the top layer (0.25mls). You should see a fine line between each layer.
Step 3: Put the cup or condom of semen in a basin of warm water. Wait for the semen to liquify.
Step 4: Place the liquified semen on top of the sucrose solutions in the test tube.
Step 5: Centrifuge for 20 - 30 minutes, until there is sperm sediment in the bottom of the test tube. You will see the sperm seeping it's way down each layer like "little ray's of sunshine" (if you check every 5 - 10 minutes).
Step 6: Using a medicine dropper, remove the top semen aswell as 1 or 2 layers of the sucrose solution (leaving only the 50% solution with sperm sediment if you choose to TBM only the bottom layer, OR 45% & 50% solutions with sperm left if you choose to TBM the bottom 2 layers). **Please note that TBM'ing the bottom 2 layers will give you more sperm but also a slightly less concentration of X sperm. Discard these top layer/s. Optional: You may wish to check a droplet of this discarded layer/s under the microscope. They will appear very fast swimmers.
Step 7: Add 1 or 2 drops of lime juice to the test tube and gently 'swish'. The pH should be between 4.5 - 5 - adjust amount of drops accordingly. Optional: You may wish to check a droplet under the microscope.
Step 8: Douche using a 50:50 mix of lime and pre-boiled water (1 tablespoon of each).
Step 9: Using a clean medicine dropper (ie, not the same one you used to remove top layers) - TBM the sucrose/sperm/lime mix.
Step 10: Either lay with hips elevated, or jump and dump - personal choice!
And yet another way...................
This method is for ttc a dd. The principle of this method is that the X-bearing sperm are less fragile than the Y-bearing sperm. Using the G force of the centrifuge, a higher ratio of the X-bearing sperm will survive the 'stress'. After removing some small portions of the semen sample from the top after spinning, lime (being an acidic substance) is then added to the remainder of the semen and TBM is then used.
For this method you will need:
Centrifuge
Test tube with stopper/lid (2 required if you have a centrifuge that needs balancing - ie, more than one position for the tube)
Cup or condom for dh's sample
2 x medicine droppers
1 needless syringe OR douche bottle (for douching)
Bottled lime juice
pH strips
Optional: Microscope (best magnification between 100x - 300x)
Optional: Insert Replens or Rephresh (finger tip amount) every 3 days
The Method:
Step 1: Dh to DTD in a cup or condom.
Step 2: Heat the sample (semen only) in a bowl of hot water for desired amount of (30 seconds - max of 2 mins).
2) a: While heating semen, lay down and insert the lime/h2o douche (this is why heating time may vary).
Step 3: Take sample (SEMEN ONLY) and check pH.
Step 4: Transfer sample to test tube and spin in centrifuge for 5 mins.
4) a: With a medicine dropper remove the top portion of sample (very small amount).
Step 5: Test pH (usually by now about 7, down from 9+).
Step 6: Add 2 drops of lime (each person is different and so is each sample, so do what works in amount for you and your comfort level).
Step 7: Test pH (by now its usually a 5.5 - 6.5).
Step 8: Second spin in centrifuge for 5 - 8 mins.
a: Remove a small top layer again with medicine dropper.
Step 9: Test pH (usually down to a 4.5 - 5 now).
9) a: If you need to add lime, I dont think any more spininng is necessary but repeat if you wish.
Step 10: Insert all of the sample using a clean, long medicine dropper.
Step 11: Either lay with hips elevated, or jump and dump - personal choice!
Note: After the 1st spin I start to see a seperation of the semen. There are some gathering in the bottom by the end of the second spin and there is a definite ball looking portion in the bottom of the test tube. Someone with a microscope can tell what these sperm are either X or Y, as I dont have one. This is why I choose to insert the whole sample for fear of inserting the "wrong section".

Re: Tricia - look at this method for getting pink!
Wow Chruis. I am not sure about all the cetrefuge stuff and all. But how about the info where it states the method the girls used such as lemon and lime douche, Is that w/ the centrifuge method or is that a bit of douching w/ a 3 day cut off like Shettles talks about.
I am willing to do about anything b/c THIS IS THE LAST!
I'm not sure about the stats at the bottom... TBM is Turkey Baster Method. I think those girls take the semen, put some drops of lime in it to kill off the boy sperm, then insert. I was reading through that BG - wow those girls are hardcore!!! Apparently Toys R Us has a centrifuge, maybe not too expensive? (Probably part of some kids chemistry set lol!)
I think if we do TTC again maybe I'll just use b/f as my method - I was b/f when I got preggo with Macy and low estrogen seems to be the big important thing (that's why vitex is supposed to be good - it lowers your estrogen). Amazing the kind of stuff that's out there to try though!
Re: Tricia - look at this method for getting pink!
Dh said last night he would do what it takes EXCEPT home insemination. He doesn;t want to do the do in a cup. So I am thinking hot shower and lemon / lime douche in addition to the baby choice method. Calcium mag, cranberry and vitex What am I missing?
Re: Tricia - look at this method for getting pink!
Hehe, I don't think mine would do it either. When we got hired at UHC, they required a urine drug test. He got so "performance shy" in the bathroom at the lab that he couldn't go - we had to go to McD's and get a super sized soda. 3 hours later he still couldn't go
Maybe you can get DH to take the cranberry tabs too? They're supposed to help lower the pH of his swimmers.
Oh and you can try to follow the diet as much as possible, at least avoiding lots of salt, no caffeine, eat tons of dairy, etc.
