Default How bad is it really?

I had a C-section 8/14 and we are not actively trying but are not preventing any longer either. I have been on the mini-pill but decided to stop because it is making me crazy-seriously. I feel moody all the time. However, I am okay with being pregnant again, but I have heard it is dangerous if you get pregnant within a year. I gues there is a possibility of hemmorage? I can't find much online except that generally it is a good odea to wait at least 6 months to a year for your body's sake anyway. I know there are other options but we have tried-and are trying to use condoms but we are not 100 percent at that and it owuld not really be ideal to get pregnant again until next year-my husband is in grad school and finishes in May so with a job change and change of insurance around may/june that would be less than ideal to get pregnant right now. I would love some advice/opinions. TIA
Karen

Most docs will say to wait a year, but there's really no actual evidence that every woman must wait that long. Some women's bodies can handle another pregnancy right away, and some will take longer than a year. I do know the statistics show that if you get preggo within 6 months of a birth your chances of preterm labor are higher, but if you didn't have any problems with that before you most likely won't have any next time.

The only reason I would agree that you should wait 5 or 6 months is because you had a c-section. I also had a c-section with #1 and we wanted to start TTC right away but decided to wait a few months to give the incision more time to heal. It's really fully healed within a few weeks, but the more time you give it the stronger the scar becomes. If you're hoping for a VBAC you really should wait at least 5 or 6 months, since studies show the closer together the births are the higher the risk of uterine rupture.

We just avoided my fertile times and sometimes used condoms until we were ready to TTC #2 when our DS was 6 months old. HTH!
