Working Hard Keeping the Hussy's In Line
|
Ok...if (and that's a BIG "IF" with this baby coming), but, IF, DH does let me get a new camera, what would ya'll suggest?
Obviously I'm looking for something that is not a point and shoot, and something that I can 'upgrade' with lenses. I'm really aiming for a Canon (after much looking and comparing), but, I don't want to spend a LOT of $$$. What do you girls suggest? I'm hoping to spend less than $1000, and hopefully get a few lenses as well. I know, I might be asking for the impossible, but, do you have any suggestions? I'm willing to buy used or previous 'years' models in order to cut costs down...I don't need anything TOO fancy, but, would love to be able to the bang for my buck... HELP! |

Guess I need to give you background (as if I haven't said it enough!
) But, I have a Sony Mavica 5.0 Megapixel camera now. I'm really looking for something with a memory card (mine doesn't have one - it writes directly onto a MINI CD-R) and that I can upgrade by buying lenses to attach and an additional flash. |

If Ty says it's big, then trust him - it's BIG!

I am sure you know by now there are a lot of us Cannon xti girls on here. I love it. its very easy to just point and shoot and not to complicated to get more technical. I got mine through a package on Ebay. I got the camera, 2 lenses, 2 batteries, memory card, a mini tripod, bag and 1 year subscription to a magazine for $912. I contacted the seller and bought it directly through his company that way I felt more secure with the purchase.

If you want to go with Canon I would get an XTi or an XT SLR. You can put it on auto or portrait and use it just like a point and shoot or you can learn the manual modes and do more with it. You can easily get the camera body and a 50mm 1.8 and 35mm 2.0 for under $1000. Even cheaper if you get a gently used one that is still under warranty or has been well cared for. Check out
www.BHphotovideo.com www.beachcamera.com They have some of the better prices and service that I've seen. Wolf Camera isn't bad either and chances are you have one near you. Suzanne (most if not all SLR's write to a memory card so that shouldn't be an issue) Last edited by Mommy2Meghan-Caleb; 03-13-2007 at 11:42 PM. Reason: 'cause I can't spell |

Thanks Suzanne. With this little one coming, David and I have just decided that we are going to suck it up and deal. I don't "need" or HAVE to have a new camera. I just want one right now since mine is a pain. But, I've agreed to wait. At least for a little while. But, I will keep note of those sites. Thanks!
