Aside from chicken, Ian is on a vegan diet. I mean... chicken is the ONLY animal product he can eat. (So yea... obviously, he *isn't* a vegan....)
Actually, there is a LOT he can eat... it's just getting him TO eat those things, ya know? I use a lot of alternative grains anyhow (tapioca, teff, amaranth, quinoa... etc) so that's not a huge big deal. Wheat, barley, and oats are already pretty much NOT in his diet, due to his sister and I being gluten free. However, the removal of several other food items, especially corn, is daunting. The kid LOVES corn. Seriously. He eats a LOT of brown rice. And, a favorite is a veggie burger from a somewhat local place, I can buy them frozen and I cook them up with a little coconut oil. They are SOOOO good. So, he does get a lot of veggies... I just need him to eat more fruit. =) I'm writing an article for our PTA newsletter regarding food allergies. I'll let y'all read it when I'm done. =) |

I recently revereted back to being a vegetarian and am introducing the diet to Noah. He seems to be feeling a bit better, which leads me to believe that he has food allergies (especially dairy). It's a challenge to introduce foods that are filling enough for toddlers (on a veg diet).
Looks like your bill at Whole Foods just went up....poor thing. ![]() |

I "adopted" a vegetarian lifestyle myself. I've been a "veggie" for a month now. It wasn't at all difficult, as I didn't eat a lot of meat to begin with. Red especially. I'm seriously contemplating a vegan diet for myself as well. Oddly enough. We are getting ready to go out of town for a weekend, and I just realized that I have to TOTALLY pack all of Ian's food, for the entire weekend. UGH!!!!! |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

I'm guessing that anything with high fructose corn syrup is out too. That garbage is in everything! Good luck planning and packing for the weekend. Cooking school will be a breeze after all this practice.

He does like a few fruits. He really does eat pretty well, despite everything. We try to steer clear of HFCS anyhow, so that's not all that difficult to avoid. (I mean.. it IS, I'm just used to doing it already!)
I use Agave Nectar as a sweetener, at home, now. I'm going to start baking with it too. I have egg substitute, flax, and such. It's just all so overwhelming. |

Kris - just think - by the time you get done with your cooking school - you will be able to start marketing your own "fast/convenience foods" to be sold everywhere - or at least hopefully everywhere you travel with your family. |
