Callie

I am getting a little concerned with Cayten. He will be three in December. We practice nearly everyday and usually more than once a day, but he still doesn't know how to say his ABC's, colors, or count to 10. Any suggestions?

Well, I don't really have any suggestions if you're already pointing things out to him every day.... but I will say that while Carson can count up to 13 and knows most colors, he will only say A B C D E and then he stops ~ and this is with me going over it with him almost every day and showing him a chart, which he still doesn't recognize a single letter.

It could be him being stubborn, which is what I often think is going on with Carson when it comes to his ABC's and going potty. But if you're really worried then you should contact his Pedi and discuss it with him/her.

Koloe

Well - Liriel can sing the ABC's, but can't tell me what any letter is. Though she does know the difference between a printed letter and number.

She can count to 10 and some times 11 or 12. But some times she doesn't get past 4 or 5.

She really has her colors mixed up and rarely tells me the correct color.

She turned 3 two weeks ago.

I wouldn't worry too much yet. He may just not be ready. Liriel didn't get counting to 10 on her own down until a few months ago. Though she had the ABC song down a long time ago because she likes singing it. Continue to play games with him that require him to learn the items you want. You might look into a pre-school program for him too. Is there a Head Start in your area? That's ussually income based.

I was going to suggest a preschool too, but I wouldn't be worried about it just yet. We have the leap frog ABC thing on the fridge and it's one of Lauryn's favorite things to play with. She has really picked up on the letters and knows numbers too. It helps that she can "discuss" things with Thomas too She loved to help with the sight words.

We have that and Word Whamer and all Liriel likes doing with it is pushing the button for the ABC song and "picking" the letters off the fridge and putting them in a bucket. Then she gives them to me to eat because they are supposedly blueberries.
