Because I said so, that's why!

Mine isn't - except on rare occasions. But I found this article on-line today and I thought that those who do not have children sleeping through the night might appreciate it.
Sleeping through the Night There is also some other interesting pro-breastfeeding stuff on her site for anyone interested: Kathy Dettwyler's Thoughts on Breastfeeding |

So pretty much similar to Liriel - but bottle vs breast - both fullfill the sucking need and the nutritional need. Last night I had to cut my little monster off because she was driving me batty and I needed sleep. Certainly doesn't fall into the mainstream theories on parenting.

If Ty says it's big, then trust him - it's BIG!

I have noticed that Ty will take more bottles on nights where he didn't eat well that day. At least Liriel is getting good nutrients.
Its not mainstream at all but I didn't parent my girls by the books and they are well adjusted children so hopefully Tyler will be as well. ![]() |

Bottoms Up!

I just have to give you girls hugs
who still aren't sleeping through the night with an almost 3 year old. ![]() I thought I was going end up in Carson's bed at 2am for the rest of my life but thankfully, about 4 or 5 months ago he FINALLY stopped waking up in the middle of the night and demanding me to sleep with him. I think what changed him was me going OOT for the weekend and not being home - and lord knows he doesn't want to snuggle daddy in the middle of the night... also we had a string of vacations where he was assigned his own bed and he was really excited about it. Now, he never wakes up. Oh and I also give him a snack and a drink before bed to avoid him waking up hungry. I'm sorry girls. ... but let's not forget that my child will NEVER BE POTTY TRAINED!!! ![]() |

Ok confession time - LOL.......
I didn't read the articles on sleeping through the night and breastfeeding yet.... but in terms of mainstream parenting, I am failing horribly, I guess...... DD still isn't potty trained. We've been working on it for 6 months, according to DH. I think it's more like a year. About a month ago, she was using the potty every day at some point but not every time. She has a problem with recurrent constipation and I found out that juice (especially pear juice) helps a lot. She has the juice in bottles. I have tried everything I can think of to get her to give up the bottles but right now I think it's important for her to have the juice b/c it helps. She will sit down and have a bottle of juice and then be done. She doesn't carry it around with her, take it to bed, etc. She still uses pacifiers. I'm trying to restrict it to bedtime and naptime. Sometimes that goes well, sometimes not so well. I'm not sure if I can say she's sleeping through the night or not....she will often wake up at least once and just needs me to go in to her and tell her that I'm there, everything is ok, etc. (sometimes it's once a night, sometimes it's up to 3 times a night). I'm not sure she's completely awake when that happens. It's not very often that she will sleep right through w/out needing me, but when she does need me it's usually just to go in and reassure her briefly..... |

Its ok.. Ty still takes paci and the bottle And wakes in the night while co-sleeping.. we do what we have to to keep our kids happy/healthy and us sane.
When its all said and done when they get to kindergarten they will all be potty taught, off the bottle and paci.. I say this calmly now because its 9:19 and Ty is in bed and the girls are being good. |
