Brenna was doing SO well with pottying on the potty. Then I went back to work. Yesterday, she peed in her pullup all day long, and kept asking for a "baba" of milk.
I was barely gone for 4 hours. What the ?????I've left her for longer periods of time just to go shopping. I really don't understand what is going on here. This morning, she woke up soaking wet (after being dry for 3 days) and would not change out of her pullup. I'm SO frustrated. How can I get this kid to train??? We've bought her small gifts (candy treats, my little ponies, stickers...etc) and those were working. Now she really doesn't care at all. |

I don't really have any advice on this one. I have taken child psychology and this is actually quiet bafaling. From what I have gotten about you, you seem to give Brenna control when she needs it and you discipline with love. For a last resort you could have a Dr evaluate her. There may be a bigger reason for such a huge regression that you or your dh are missing. I hope you figure things out. That must be so frustrating

Ya know... Adam and I talked about this a little bit. And, all of the other times I've left, it's been a "choice." I'm going to the mall because I want to. I don't have to leave at a certain time.... but while I was getting ready for work, I kept saying, "We *have* to get ready, I *have* to go to work." I didn't have the option of extra hugs before getting out of the car. I didn't have the option to just say, "OK, one more story" or whatever.
Also, when I go out.... I usually just drive myself. When I went to work, Adam drove me. All 3 kids were in the car. I had to get out, and leave them. I'm wondering if those two things may be part of the issue. Bren is usually very occupied when I DO actually leave to go someplace or do something. But, when I went to work.... I simply got out of the car, said goodbye, and shut the door. I don't know..... I don't like driving Adam's van, the heat doesn't work well, and I'm ALWAYS cold. I didn't want him to be stuck in the house all night either. Which is why he drove me.... so he could take MY van, to have access to all 3 carseats. There is no way we'll switch Brenna and Ian's seats into his van, and I won't drive his van. Make sense? Anyhow.... I'm baffled too. She keeps talking about what a big girl she is. And, she told me she wants to go pick out new "big girl underwear" so... I'll see how she does today. |

Still the best Christmas present EVER!

Kris,
I am so sorry. that really has to be hard. I wish I had some advice. I was a daycare teacher for 3 year olds, and I had one little girl who like the attention she got when she had accidents. She had one on one in the bathroom changing and cleaning up. So we literally had to give her her underwear and tell her to get changed and if she didn't want to that was fine but she was a big girl and she could do it her self. She eventually started using the bathroom again b/c she wasn't getting that attention. (This all was on mom's advice, of course) I don't know if that will help in. Sorry. Good Luck Tricia |

Hmmm, you may have a point there. The first two days... I was all in her face, smiling, praising.... going ON and ON about what a big girl she was. She helped with the stickers and such.
On day 3, it was like... "Ok, go in the bathroom" -- and when i change Ian's diapers, of course, it's a big game. Maybe she's missing that "attention." Hmmmmmm. Something to consider, huh?? |

this little girl wpuld just stand by the computer and pee. she didn't care. and oh my she threw a fit when no one would help her get cleaned up. the fit that day lasted forever but finally she changed and we simply thanked her for being a big girl and getting cleaned up then we engaged her a new actvity.
I really hope this helps. T nwt |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
|
I just wanted to give you a [[HUG]]. I know what it's like when you think they've finally got it. They do great for a few days and then bam! back to square one. We had a time with Thomas after Lauryn arrived on the scene, but he finally got over it. I just didn't give in and put up with a lot of mess. I refused to let him have pull-ups in the end and let him feel the wet/dirty undies, YUCK! Yes, I did a ton of laundry, but he finally got sick of it too. Now he will wake himself up at night as he starts to have an accident (might be a little moisture on the undie, but not enough to soak through to the bed) and comes to get us. We also did the toy thing with good pottying, but that got way out of hand and we are STILL expected to give him something if he poops in the potty (it's been like 7 months)

That is funny Just wanted to see if things have gotten any better today? Emma has some good points about not giving in. We were the same way with Brayden. when we knew he could do it there was no going back and we were consistant the whole way through. |
