Urrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cade is driving me bonkers!! I have no clue what to do with his napping issues. He has always been a GREAT napper - he's been taking two naps (about 1 hr 15 min to 1 1/2 hours) a day since he was 5 months old. He usually goes down around 9:30 and then again at 2:30 (with a little flexibility depending on what time he gets up in the morning and how long his first nap is.) The last few months have been getting horrible though... he has been fighting his naps so badly, he'll lay in his room playing or kicking the wall for an hour or more. I have gone in there as many as 10 times to scold him before he finally goes to sleep. I had started to get him down to 1 nap a day (just an afternoon one, around 2pm) but then all of a sudden he started waking up between 5:45 and 6am, when before he wouldn't get up until 7-7:30am. There's just no way he can go from 6am to 2pm, he gets so cranky, I couldn't even get him to eat his lunch. So I went back to 2 naps a day. He fights both of them, the morning nap not as badly (usually he's asleep within 30 min.) but the afternoon one has just become such an ordeal. Like right now he's been in there for an hour and I can hear him still kicking the wall (I'm about to go in there again.) I've tried eliminating the afternoon nap and just going with a morning nap, but then he's a monster around dinnertime, won't eat, just screams and whines. This child just cannot go more than 4 or 5 hours without some kind of nap, and I don't know what to do with him anymore. Is this just a phase? Should I do one afternoon nap and that's it and maybe try moving his bedtime earlier (although I did that once for about a week, and it didn't work - he usually goes to bed at 8, we tried 7 and he just threw a fit until 8 Any advice/suggestions?? Gosh this age is tough! ![]() |

I wish I had some advice for you. But, Joshua stopped napping (all-together) at 1 year. And, Brenna napped for 3 hours a day until we moved into our house in June. Then she just stopped. That was it...no more, thanks.
I'd like to say it's just a phase, but I haven't a clue. I just hope it is, for your sake, and his!! =) |

Hmm Well with Brayden (who was the worlds best napper until 3) would go down right after lunch around 12:30-1 and then I would wake him up or he would wake up around 4:30 and still be in bed by 7. I guess my advice to you is cut out the morning nap and get a good nap in earlier then you have been. Lots of kids start needing less sleep around 2- 2 1/2. Hope you find something that works.

Thanks for all the advice and hugs girls - last night I put him down a tad bit early (about 7:30, normally he goes to bed at 8) and he still woke up at the same time this morning (6) so glad he didn't wake up earlier.
I also skipped the morning nap because he did not seem tired at all, gave him an early lunch at 11:30 and just put him down at about 12:45 for a nap. I only had to go back in there once to tell him to lay back down and that was it. Now hopefully he sleeps until at least 2:30 so he doesn't get cranky before dinner! |

Well, I put Cade down at 12:45 so he was probably asleep by 1. He woke up at 2:15
Hopefully we can get on this one long nap schedule and have much better days! Thanks again girls! |
