Because I said so, that's why!

Today when I was getting ready to leave for work I had Liriel's mittens on and was trying to shove the hand through the coat sleeve and she was crying that it hurt. This is not normal behavior for her. So after making sure I wasn't bending her finger(s) back (I wasn't) and still unhappy child - I took off the mitten and put the mitten on afterwards - not nearly as secure - but you do what you have to do. Well when I got to DC she was showing her owe to her DCP and I we both took a look at her hands. The hand she was complaining about is swollen up around the thumb and palm of her hand near the thumb - compared to her other hand. She was saying she had a owe yesterday at DC too. I had thought maybe her hand got twisted the wrong way when I was rolling with her at night (have to switch sides you know
) but DCP thought it might be she hurt it while doing a handstand/flip off the chair the other day. What would you do? Call the doctor and have her hand looked at? Wait and see if it get's better in a day or 2? It's not major swelling, and she can grip things. She has a very high pain tolerance, so it can be hard to tell how bad it is by using that method of deduction - but the fact she was crying this morning when it was being squeezed means it must really hurt. If it's just a sprain, they probably won't do anything. Could she have broken some thing in and around her thumb and still be able to use her hand? On the one hand I don't want to bring her in if it's nothing, but if it's a break, I don't want her to have major issues later in life because I ignored it. KWIM? |
