Help with sleep/pacifier
Long story short, Jake had 2 weeks of pacifier only at bedtime then has been pacifier free since Sunday night-and he gave it up relatively easily-sounds good right? Well, now he doesn;t ask for it but he does cry now at bedtime saying he doesn't want to go to bed, he talks non stop or sings when he is in there and he NEEDS a nap. With the pacifier he sleeps 12-13 hours at night and a 2-3 hour nap. When he misses naps he is a mess. He missed two this week already. I am thinking of giving it back, maybe he is not ready yet but I would hate to gp backwards, KWIM. WWYD? TIA
Don't cave. He'll get back to a good sleep routine, it'll just take time.
When Carson first got his cast off, he went almost a week with no nap or barely took a nap, but then he got back to a normal routine. Changes always take adjustment.
I would rather maintain my sanity and get sleep at night. 2 year olds still have a major need to suck, and he probably used that to give him comfort. Can you come up with any other thing he can use as a comfort when he sleeps? When Liriel get's cut off at night she curls up with her teddybear. And we have the stuffed chicken that scares away monsters.
Have you talked to him to see what is bothering him? Is he sad? Is he lonely? Does he miss the pacifier or does he just not know how to go to sleep without it?

Well - my child hasn't taken a nap at DC in over 3 months - so no guarantee of a return to a sleep routine. Though she now frequently sleeps at night - so I can't complain too much. Just can't go anywhere at night because she is ready to go to bed when we get home from DC around 5:30 PM - half the time she is asleep before we get home - that 5 min drive is tiring you know.
Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
We had a rough time without the paci at first, but it's been like 2 months and we haven't had anymore problems since the very begining. She does have a dolly that she is now more attached to and she must have her to sleep.

Tai was the same at first but I'm glad we stuck to it cause he's good without it now. Just took time like Terri said. Good luck!

I am so torn as to whether to give in or not. He doesn't ask for it, we gave him as a trade a Leo (little einsteins) doll and a lightning McQueen blanket and he still has his baby blanket that he likes to have, plus now he is taking like 4 hot wheels to bed. I just worry he still needs it to soothe himself. Partly I think 5 days is a long way to go without it but at the same time the major lack of sleep I worry indicates he is not ready for the change...hmmmmm! I appreciate the feedback ladies.
