Still the best Christmas present EVER!
|
I have always had a problem with this. My ear thermemter always reads a degree or two off. The under the arm is almost 3 degrees.
So how do you take their Temps. Gage is going to be 4 in a month. I know he has a fever but I don't know how high!! |

Because I said so, that's why!

I do the under the arm. But you need to add 1 degree to the reading. If he will keep his mouth closed you can try putting it in his mouth. I don't have much luck with the ear thermometers either. They used them at the clinic when Liriel was an infant, but by the time she was 1 they had stopped using them because they are so erratic in reading.

I love my boys!!

i use an ear, and i take it 4 times twice in each ear. You need to pull on the ear a little when you take it, to make sure that it hits the right spot. I average the 4 to determin about how high it is...
you don't need a sick kiddo on top of contractions!! ![]() |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

The ear thermometers can be inaccurate because you have to get it "just right" to get the reading off the eardrum. If they have an ear infection, the reading can be inaccurate as well. After Lauryn was born, I bought a temporal scan thermometer and it's a ton easier. I still take a few readings to be sure I'm scaning just right.
