The day before yesterday, DD didn't nap....just played/talked in her bed. I decided to get her up after awhile and go to the mall. I don't know what I was thinking. She was running around Old Navy. Usually, she's been very good in stores. Yesterday, her nap was 2 1/2 hours. Today, it looked like she wouldn't nap again so I made her an appointment to get her hair cut and took her to get a card and gift for a new baby we are seeing tomorrow. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING. I must be loosing my mind to think that taking her out of the house without a nap was a good idea - obviously not - and I obviously didn't learn my lesson after our trip to Old Navy the other day. I guess I was just looking at how long the afternoon would seem if we didn't go out.
We were in the card store this afternoon, after her haircut, and she was playing with these little (breakable) ornaments on a low shelf. I didn't think it was such a good idea but she was being really careful. I told her, after a while, that i wanted to look at something in another part of the store. She threw a fit. She actually lay down on the floor of the store. One of the women there asked me how old she was and when i said, "2" she said, "3 is worse" I thought, how could 3 be worse than this??? Another older woman said, "That's a tired cry" and I said, "Yeah, she wouldn't nap" I have no idea what I was thinking taking her out of the house in the afternoon when she didn't have a nap. I must be out of my mind! ![]() Oh....and she's had a runny nose and sneezing and I feel sick and have PMS. I'm just not thinking straight, obviously! The guy who was working in the card store told me that once he had a presentation at 2:30 in the afternoon and he was talking & his mind went completley blank. He said, 'I'm sorry....I lost my train of thought. I was up last night with a child who is sick" I guess he could tell that I wasn't 100% at that moment, either. I so feel your pain. Lauryn hasn't napped very well lately and only ended up taking a nap after I put her there and let her cry it out after she bit her brother over a game of chutes and ladders
I think there are a lot of us battling our terrible 2 year olds. Lord help me if it's worse at 3! |

My 2-year-old RARELY naps anymore. Only when it will complelty screw up my plans does she nap.
Basically I pick her up at DC around 5:00 PM and she's ready to go to bed. She's been falling asleep before I even get home a couple times this week - and I only live a 5 min drive away from my DCP!!!!! Problem is - it's too early and she doesn't eat supper, so she wakes up later hungry and is up till 11 or 12 PM. So I need to keep her up till about 6 and try to get some food into her.Though if she is with me all day, I can ussually get her to take a nap by knocking her unconcious with BM. What a wonder drug that is. ![]() |

I've been going through the nap routine & then having her get into bed. I hear her talking in there and she has a bunch of her "babies" in there with her and she's not complaining - but she's partying - LOL. Do I keep doing that? or do something different? I've left her in there for 45 mins. - 1 hour but I'm not sure if that's too long or not long enough. Yeah - I know waht you mean. I miss that time probably more than she does. |
