I guess I'll post here, since my main concern is Lauryn the PITA We're looking into finding alternate babysitters for an occasional date night. The girls that we used to use seem too busy to even call me back with a yes or no when I ask. I'm getting frustrated with not having any alone time with my Dh to have a peaceful meal, shop, go to a movie (are movie theaters still in existance?!?!?! ). The step daughter of a guy Dh works with is interested in helping us out. We are gonna try and meet up with her, her mom, and her younger brother (6 years old) at McDs and let them all get a feel for each other. Then try for a date night in a week or so. I think the mom would like for her to do it at their house the first time and make sure things go well (and Thomas would have a playmate too). I've explained to them that Lauryn is a challange especially at bedtime and that she does have a temper that can be really hard to tolerate. How much should I offer to pay her per hour? She doesn't have a car so even sitting here at the house we would pick her up and take her home. We were paying the other girls $10/hr. I thought that was good, but maybe not?

I think $10 an hour is more than reasonable. I'm assuming that's for both kids right? So, $5/hour per child? OR is it $9/hour for Lauryn and $1/hour for Thomas?

$10/hr sounds about right to me. Just curious... how old is the girl?

I know your worried about Miss PITA but I'd be willing to bed she'll be on her best behavior for these new people while you're not there. Carson's always an angel around other people.

WOW - $10 hr!!!! Around here $5 hr seems to be common from what I hear. A little more for extra kids. But if that's what you are use to paying.

I thought $10 was a heck of a lot more than I ever got paid and it didn't matter if it was 1 kid or 4 kids She's 17 years old. Her mom is a sahm and is the one that makes our kids b-day cakes. The girl worked a summer job at Dh's office and he said that she was very responsible and always did as she was asked to, etc. I just really hope it works out 'cuz I'm goin' loco with no adult time, KWIM?
