Still the best Christmas present EVER!
|
You know it jsut occurred to me that I didn't tell you that Gage was diagnosed with a phonetical disorder. Meaning that the "b"'s and "d" and p's he tries to say in the back of his throat and the g, h and k's he tries to sound at the tip of his tongue.
It is so frustrating b/c I feel like we aren't making any progress. I know we are but it is so much work. Some days are worse than others but man I wish there was a majic pill. |

Working Hard Keeping the Hussy's In Line
|
Poor guy! Don't let it discourage you. On Saturday, once I was around him for a bit...even I understood what he was saying. (which is hard for me sometimes because I'm not around the 'baby talk' that much anymore - so, I've lost some of my toddlerian understanding)
So, to be honest, as an outsider (who isn't around your kids a lot), it's not as bad as you might think. I understood most of everything he was saying to me. It's ok Mom...hopefully the magic pill will come! He will get the hang of it. Give him some time and just practice. ![]() |

If Ty says it's big, then trust him - it's BIG!

Rachel had speech issues when she was younger, I am not sure what exactly was the problem but we took her to therapy 2 times a week for a year. We hardly had much progress so I pulled her out due to lack of improvement and she had started preschool. We notice a big improvement after the first year of preschool now that she is in Kindergarten she passed her speech evaluation just fine.
Try not to get to discouraged. I know its difficult, But its not something that he will have to live with forever. |

Future Iron Chef....

Joshua also had speech issues, he was dx with verbal apraxia when he was 18 months old. He was in therapy for almost a year. But, he went from not talking at all to talking in complete sentances in less than a year.
It's a lot of work, but it'll all be good!!! Early intervention is the key!!! |

I was worried about the apraxia (sp?) but I asked the speech therapist and she doesn't think he has that b/c he can mimic really well.
Sometimes I feel like b/c you work and work on the same words and he still can't say them. And it isn't his fault. Thanks guys for the support |
