Despite the fact that I'm sick as a dog, our entire family was out in the backyard having a blast earlier this evening.

We all started getting a bit rambunctious... Josh went to kick Adam, Adam grabbed Joshua's foot to stop him, and Josh fell. He landed on his elbow.

I've never seen him cry SO hard in my entire life.

So, we got home about 20 minutes ago.... and he's sleeping soundly. He was given a lortab and motrin prior to the splinting so he was in very little pain while they were doing it. He's in a fiberglass splint/cast.

I'm so flippin' tired. This really has been a day from hell.

Oh no! Poor Josh.

So he broke his elbow? That sounds extreemly painful. I'm glad he was able to fall asleep. Hopefully he'll make it through the night without much pain. This really has been a bad day for you & him both.

He didn't break it, but he's badly bruise. They said that it "looks as if" he might have a fracture, but the images weren't great since they could not move his arm to get decent pictures. However, since the bruising and swelling is so bad, and it IS right in his elbow where he still has "open growth plates" - they put him in a splint to hold it perfectly still.

They are going to send the results and what not to his pediatrician, who will then determine how long he should be in it.

The "nurse practitioner" who saw him said she thinks a week or so. However, the radiologist and the xray lady said probably longer.

I just don't know.
