Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
|
I enrolled him this morning at the Classical Magnet school. Now I'm at home and in tears. Why is this so hard? Will I ever get used to the idea of sending my baby to school??!?!?!?! I'm absolutely dreading the first day. I'll be such a mess. I don't want Thomas to get upset because he sees that I'm upset.

They grow up. I remember you mentioned this school before, but what is a "Classic" school? I done forgot. ![]() If I remember right "magnet" is a public school that specializes in some thing right? We call those "charter" schools around here. |

It's like a charter school from what I understand. He was picked through the lottery and has a spot. We had a week to get him enrolled or he would lose his spot. I'm glad we weren't on vacation when the letter came!
Here's some info on it: http://www.risd.org/Schools/schools.asp?OrgCode=101 The ladies in the office knew all the kids that came through while I was there. The kids weren't just a number. They certainly have a lot more programs than what I had as a kid. I'm stoked about getting Thomas into the gardening program. I would love for him to take the piano classes, but I don't think he has the attention span for that That might be Lauryn's thing when it's her turn.I told them I would bring him to school everyday, but I just realized they have a bus that picks up in our neighborhood. Maybe after the 1st week or so we could try that. What do you guys think? It's kinda a long way to the school from here which isn't a big deal on the days that I have to be at work at 9, but if I don't have to be at work it would be a lot of driving back and forth. If gas is $4/gallon I think the school bus seems like an awesome idea! Need more opinions: They will provide school supplies for $38. That seems really high to me. Don't you think I could get those cheaper? Here's the list: 2 boxes tissues 2 pkgs manilla paper 1 box 24 ct crayons 1 box washable markers 10 pocket only folders 1 bottle glue 2 glue sticks 1 pair Fiskar pointed scissors 1 wireless notebook, plain cover 24 #2 pencils Last edited by Emma; 04-25-2008 at 12:41 PM. |

I rode the school bus when I was in Kindergarten. That's what most people did back in the old days - when you lived more than 2 miles from school.
I'm sure he would be just fine riding the bus. And when all is said and done, the first day of school is when the bus driver tells the kids the rules, so it might be better to put him on the bus day 1. Quote:
The only thing I've never seen on a school list is 2 pkgs of Manila paper. Might want to check on that one. If you buy all that stuff right now it might cost you $30 though. |

I know it's going to be hard sending your handsome little guy off to Kindergarden, but he'll do just fine. Like Rebecca says... they do grow up.
It sounds like he'll be attending a great school though, which should make you feel a little better! ![]() I remember riding the bus to school when I was in kindergarden. I'm sure he'll do just fine ~ especially once he gets to know some of the kids at his school, it might even be something he'll look forward to doing. |
