Sadie had the upper GI w/ small bowel follow through yesterday then we met with her doctor. Good news is she has gained back the 6lbs and the even better news is that the upper GI came back clear (her small bowel is clean and not diseased). Bad news is we've pretty much reached the end in terms of treatment options available for her. Since we will be at the childrens hospital tomorrow with Peyton (for his tubes) her doctor has scheduled her for a colonoscopy. He wants to take a closer look at her colon and see how much damage has been done. Basically depending on how severe her colon is diseased he may need to remove the damaged areas for now. If the damage isn't too bad then we have the option of adjusting her meds to continue to try finding a combination that will help her. He would really like to send her to a center that specializes in the care/treatment of IBD diseases, as its uncommon for people to completely not respond to treatments like she has. Unfortunately thats not something we can do at this time so he's going to try and get in touch with them personally and see if he can get some further opinions and such. He is also concerned with the amount of joint pain she is experiencing and would like to have her seen by a specialist soon, apparently people with Crohn's are at high risk of developing Rheumatory arthritis.
So pretty much we don't know which direction where heading until after Friday. I have my doctor appt tonight and the kids are staying with Bobby's mom, then we'll be at the hospital again all day tomorrow with Sadie and Peyton so I'll post an update probably this weekend.
Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
I hope Sadie's Colonoscopy comes back better than expected and they come up with another option for you before going ahead with surgery. I know Peyton's surgery will be a breeze and it should be the end of the EI issues for him. I'll keep you guys in my prayers.
Poor Sadie! I hope things look good at her colonoscopy. Poor thing is just to young to have to go through all this. for the weight gain and the upper GI!!!
