So there you have it..... I'm crazy!!
|
I think I lost my mind. I said that I would NEVER give Lex a cell phone until she started to drive and need it. I have one of those Prepaid ones b/c well, I never go anywhere and honestly it would be a waste of money for me to actually have a plan one and DH gets his free through work. About a month ago my phone went MIA - Ethan hid it.
I couldn't find it for the life of me and everyone turned the house upside down to find it. No luck. DH went and got me a new one - neater phone too - b/c he didn't want me out and about with the kids with out one. Well, last week I found the old one. Who would of thought to look at the bottom of one of the 6 wipe containers floating around this house! I got a card and put minutes back on it. I have given it to Lex when she is going out of the house with out DH or I and can I say how NICE it was. It has given me more security knowing I can keep in touch with her at any moment. I have issues with the kids being away from me anyways. She doesn't take it to school - there is no need - and I told her it was NOT to be used chatting with friends on. It was to get a hold of us if needed or for us to get a hold of her. She called me from the concert last week to tell me they were going to be later then what they thought b/c they were getting signatures on their CD's they got. Not a big deal but with out that phone call I would have been worried with her being 45 minutes later then expected. She also used it at softball practice to ask if she could stay and use the batting cage and that my mom would bring her home after the older girls practice. (my mom coaches my two sisters softball teams) SO, I broke my rule I never said I would and I feel guilty. But wow it has been nice. I am going to keep minutes on it and keep sending it with her. |

Because I said so, that's why!

:Ditto And as long as you keep it as one of those that requires you to pay BEFORE you talk, she can't ring up huge cell phone debts. LOL Actually, in this day and age it's almost becoming necessary to send cell phones off with people. Have you tried finding a payphone lately??? They are few and far between. They seem to think everyone has a cell phone now days, so those of us who don't feel a need to have one are finding we do need one because when we want a payphone we can't find one.

Bottoms Up!
|
Funny that you just did that with Lex... Bill & I have always told Cody flat out - We're NOT getting him a cell phone! We survived our early teenage years without one, so can he.
Well this Wednesday is Cody's birthday and this weekend he was celebrating with his mom (cause we have him on his actual birthday) and what does she buy him for his birthday... a pay-as-you-go cell phone. So not only do WE not have to pay for it he now has one to call us on when he's with his friends, etc. I totally know what you mean tho about giving you peace of mind. |

If Ty says it's big, then trust him - it's BIG!

Darren says no way about getting Chloe one on her B-day but I dont know how many times I have given her mine in the store when her and Ray go off to look at something somewhat near by or when she goes on an outing with girlscouts or something. I am glad you have that piece of mind!! I know it has to be nice. Enjoy your new phone.

Working Hard Keeping the Hussy's In Line
|
Do you keep the phone and give it to her when she is going somewhere?
I too said that I would NEVER get Katelynn one...but, David and I might be looking into doing that come age 12. (Even though we don't WANT to). But, with Katelynn, you have to control it or she will go hog wild. So, I was trying to figure out how to work that. A prepaid phone would be fantastic...but, controlling the phone would be another issue. We have to get past our 'trust' issues with her first... We shall see. How do you work the keeping of the phone? Is Lex responsible for it??? |
