It's official, I'm a post whore!!
|
On Saturday we went out to eat with the IL's... they were telling me that ALL plastic bottles and containers were being pulled from Wal-Mart's shelves because they cause cancer... (I think they are the type of people who like to always be the first to tell someone something, even if they don't have their story completley accurate.. and they like to make it sound REALLY scary too)...
Of course this freaked me out and I asked what type of bottles and what not and they didn't have the answer.. so that made me a little leery as to how much they REALLY knew... Not that I don't believe them, but before I go all spazoid , does anyone know a little more about this? |

Haven't heard that they were pulling them from the shelves but a lady at my work was telling us about a study about plastic containers and cancer. She said not to microwave your food in plastic containers because microwaving the plastic releases gas into the food and what not. I still do it though.

I have seen something about this on the news. I don't know which bottles are affected.
You should be able to find something about it on the 'net. I wanted to add that the chances are minimal. It's just a precaution, I believe. |

Because I said so, that's why!

They are probably referring to the clear, HARD, plastic bottles (Such as Dr. Brown) that when heated release a chemical known to cause cancer. Whether there is enough actually cause this problem is up for debate at the moment. There is an old thread somewhere on here about this.

I'm sure everything at one point in time has been or will be considered to give us cancer. It's a bunch of hype to scare everyone.

oops! I said that because this is not anything new. I remember hearing it when Hannah was a baby and she is almost 5. I thought that if it was a real danger they would have pulled the bottles and other dangerous plastics before now. |
