Hi I'm new to the forum, 15wks with number 2 and I'm not sleeping. Which means I'm tired, cranky, and well down right grumpy. I know it's normal not to sleep during pregnancy, but it's unusual for me. I'm usually a very good sleeper, but now I'm awake half the night and it's starting to wear on me.
Has anyone else been through this and does it go away later in the pregnancy? I was never like this with my daughter so please tell me it does. |

Because I said so, that's why!

I really didn't have a problem with sleeping until the last month when I had to get up every 1-2 hours to go to the bathroom.
Any idea what is keeping you awake? Could there be some thing other than the pregnancy that is the problem? And how long has the sleep deprivation been going on? |

Talk to your doctor. S/he might allow you to take something to help you sleep. It seems like I was told I could occasionaly take a benedryl, but I have lost a ton of sleep between then and now, don't take my word for it.
Are you able to nap during the day? That might help you from falling too far behind on your sleep. |

How about exercise - do you get much of that? Maybe a walk earlier in the day - if you don't already do so - might help you sleep better? Maybe a different sleeping position would help? I've heard of people who sleep in a recliner or some time because of pregnancy or newborn sleeping on chest. If you sleep on your back maybe you need to sleep on your side. Maybe some pillows around your body would help you sleep better? |

No to the naps, 1) I have an active 4yr old, who doesn't let me. 2) I can't sleep during the day, unless I'm sick, I'm just weird that way.
Exercise- I try to walk between a quarter mile and half a mile each day. But with the colder weather lately it's been hard. I've been waiting for my next appt so I can check with the Dr on what I can do and can't. I've tried all the positions I can think of. We even bought new pillows so I would have extras to put around me. Guess I'll just tough it out till next week and ask if the doc can give me something or I can take the Benadryl. Thanks for all the ideas. |
