Most of the babies at the hospital I was at were in the mother's rooms too. Or in NICU. And some times you could kind of see the babies in there, other times they had the currents shut. But a lot of babies had covers over their isolets so you couldn't see them even when the nursery curtain was open.

I don't know if they had this feature at my Hospital or not. I know that Mom and 1 other person of her choice - ussually dad - had a matching bracelet on them and the baby had one on the wrist and one on the ankle. And you had to match up the bracelets to take the baby anywhere.
