UGH- I thought I would be able to avoid this but it doesn't look to good. Clarysa might have to be under lights for a week. It will probably be the longest week of my life. She had her blood tested and Monday and Yesterday her levels stayed about the same but when I took her in for her well baby visit, the dr. decided to have her tested again and he REALLY thinks we will be getting the lights. It is so hard for me. I can't hold her unless she is eating, bathing, and/or changing her diaper. I want to cry already. Please pray that her levels will miraculously level out and we wont have to do this.
The best thing to do to get rid of jaundice is nurse, nurse, nurse and put her in a sunny window with as few cloths as possible. Assuming your home/room is warm enough.
Liriel was Jaundice and I was told to nurse her every 2 hours or more if she wanted it. That is 2 hours from start to start by the way.
They just called. Her levels were 11.6 on Monday, 11.5 yesterday, and now it is 19.8 so they are bringing the lights :( Sunny side is if nursing is what will get it out, I am gonna keep doing as Rebecca said and nurse every 2 hours from start to start and that means I can hold her more often

Yep - holding is good. ALSO - push for a billy ruben blanket if possible. Then you can hold her more. 20.0 is where they start the lights at my clinic - so makes sense they would want to start now. Fluids, fluids, fluids along with sunshine (which is what the light duplicates) are what you need to get the billy ruben out of her system. Your milk has come in full force - so that should help a lot now. I hope she gets better quickly.
I bet it won't take long to get her numbers down now that your milk is in. Nursing will help her poop a lot and that is important. So if you are told to give her formula don't!! It will not help.
