Something not too hard should work. You could fold up a blanket and lay it underneath, that should work. NOT too high though, just a slight incline so that he is slightly elevated.

Mikayla's been on Zantac since about 6 weeks old. I just shoot it in her mouth with the syringe, up until recently I had a syringe with a long tip, and that really helped to make sure she would get it all and not have to taste too much of it. It is so NASTY! have you tasted it yet? I did by accident one day... Blech! also I noticed it helped really quickly, I think within a week.

anyway she was a gagger/choker. still is. We actually had to have 911 called and her rushed to the ER on New Years eve (she was 1 month). Cause she gagged and projectile vomited, then must not have cleared it all and started choking, and actually turned blue on us.

Try to keep him upright as much as possible after feedings, that always helped me, though at night I didn't do it cause she would nurse and go right back to sleepit didn't seem to bother her too much.

Hope you see results soon!

Yea! on the milk production! LLL can be VERY helpful. Lots of women who have BTDT.

You can put the medicine in a bottle of EBM and see if that works. I know Lisa used that method for giving Kaitlyn her daily meds. You don't need a great big bottle of it either. But if it's really nasty it might not work. I would try it a couple times before giving up on it.

Also - have you asked your LLL leader about possible foods your eating that might be causing - or making worse - the reflux? Dairy is often a big culprit there. May want to consider an elimination diet and see if that helps him any.

We have elmiminated dairy, BBQ sauce, spicy foods, and carbonated beverages ( i was soo looking foward to beer...) We went over everything...she thinks it's just something that runs in the family..Mike had it, I have it...my dad has it...hereditary. We are going to check his weight in another week to make sure he's still gaining. We think he's lactose intolerant, as am I.

I gave Zantac to him at 4, and the directions are every 12 hrs...so twice a day my ped told me. I will give it to him in the morning, and then again before bed. He seems better this afternoon with it in his system. This is going to do the trick for making him a little more comfy...he's not as gassy either.

Ugh - looks like you have covered it. Keep in mind it can take up to 2 weeks to get foods out of your system / BM. So if it's fairly recently you stopped eating them, you may not see the effects yet.

I'm glad he's doing better. I hope that keeps up. He might gain weight faster too if he's not so unhappy.

I agree. Let us know how things go. Although, I wouldn't put it IN the bottle unless you have to, because, if he doesn't drink it, then you've thrown out that medicine. I would just do the thin syringe and put in on the side of his mouth and slowly drip it into his mouth WHILE he's eating either from the boob or bottle. If you add it to a bottle, then, that is less that he is nursing...so don't use a bottle unless you need to.

We give Zach's twice a day too...first thing in the AM (6:30/7:00) and then right before bed.

Poor Baby! Tyler also has relux and is on Zantac, I was told it takes 2 weeks to work, a full 2 weeks to see a difference. We just started on it 1 week ago. I just put the syringe in the back to the side and slowly give it to him-it is nasty! I am calling the pedi this morningb/c I think he actually spits up more witht he Zantac. I don't know For the bed I put 3 small wooden boards under the legs of the crib to elevate the head-that would work for the pack and play too. They say 45 degrees is best but that seems like a lot, I just raised it like 2 inches or so on one end. I found this website helpful- www.reflux.org I found that the elimination diet stuff worked for Tyler, carbonation and dairy are his main offenders. I also give him Mylanta or Maalox per the pedi-1/2 tsp. after every feed-but I ususally only do 2 x/day b/c if I do more it causes diarrhea. I think that is it. Good luck with everything, it is a good thing the is gaining weight, I guess taht can be an issue with reflux babies. You can PM me if you have any questions, I would love someone to talk to about this stuff.
