What kind of detergent is everyone using? Do you like it? When is it ok to switch back to regular detergent from using a baby or free and clear kind? When Austin was born, I switched completely from Gain to All Free and Clear.
Is there anything you girls would suggest is cost effective and still works at getting stains out? I'm tempted to going back to using Tide rather than Gain because the stains are getting bad and All just isn't taking them out. I'm having to pre-treat ALOT with All where I never had to with Gain.
I normally use Tide HE Free and Clear (or what ever their HE die/fragrance free stuff is called). I've tried a few other HE detergents, but they seem to make DB and DD's itching worse. But I don't have many options when it comes to HE detergent.
I use SHOUT pretreater on the more onerous stains. Like chocolate, fruit, ketchup, ring around the collar, etc.

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
I only used the free and clear stuff for the first month or so and then switched back to whatever. I really like Tide, but it's too expensive. Before getting the HE washer, I used Arm and Hammer and pretreated the obvious spots before washing and it worked pretty well.

I bought a huge bottle of Dreft when it was on sale for Brody before he was born. When it's gone, I will start washing his stuff in the concentrated Tide we use. It goes a long way

My uterus is screaming at me to MAKE MORE BABIES!!
We use Tide HE with Borax put in too. The Borax has really helped A LOT. Also, you can wash in plain old Dawn dish soap. It will take out any grease. I use it on my cloth diaper inserts and have started to use it once a month on all of our clothes. It 'strips' them, it takes all of the extra detergent you don't realize has stayed in the fibers of the clothing out.
I've also heard that the cheap store brand stuff is good, stuff like Sun.
I would suggest pretreating with a BioKleen product called Bac-Out. You can get it from Amazon.com.

I use this soap that we bought on the internet called Charlies soap. I only use an 1/8th of a cup and it gets my clothes really clean. The soap you buy in stores leaves a film on your clothes. It costs around $24 for a 1 gallon jug of liquid soap. It works great on cloth diapers too. Here is the website if you want to learn more about it.... Welcome - Charlie's Soap I hope it helps...
