Anyone have a shoes off rule? I'm trying so hard to keep the floors clean, but with a dog, a cat, and a 2 yr old, it's really hard. I was going to try and make everyone take their shoes off before they come in the house, but i think it's going to be hard....anyone do this?
Not me! I have tile in all rooms, but the bedrooms. With my bad knees and hips I have to wear shoes on the hard surface. It sucks because I hate wearing shoes.
Sort of, but not really. DB and I normally take our shoes off when we come home. And some of our family does - the ones who visit regularly. But when we have a lot of people over we ussually don't unless the weather is raining/snowing etc.
I have seen people who have signs at the front entry asking people to take their shoes off. I know at one of my Aunts homes she wants people to take their shoes off and will ask people to do that. She has a bench at her front door you can sit on do put shoes on/off and you can then leave the shoes there.
Nope. No rules in my house. If people want to keep their shoes on... they are more than welcome. None of US wear shoes in the house, but it's all personal preference.
I really dislike it when people "tell me" to take my shoes off at the door. I do it automatically because I hate wearing shoes, however.

The idea of shoes off is nice, because who knows what people are bringing in your house on the bottom of their feet... but I agree with the girls, I hate being told to take mine off and it is also kind of awkward asking people who are guests in your home to do something.. It is to me anyway... But whenever germs and what not are discussed, I also say the same thing, atleast it will help build up my immune system

I saw a synopses of a study once that indicated that people who put chemicals (in particular herbicides & pesticides) on their lawns were at significantly increased risk of developing cancer. The theory was that all the chemicals were tracked into the house. And then children in particular would lay on the floors with all the chemicals. Not a cheery idea IMO. And of course in some cultures it's the norm and considered rude to not take off your shoes. I know I hate when DB walks through the house with his golf cleats on because of all the chemicals used on the golf course. I discovered I'm allergic to some of them because I started breaking out in rashes on my legs (where they were exposed to the grass) when I caddied for him.
