Hunting for a new Brain!
|
Okay girls. I really need some help! I suck at home decor stuff so bad. Anyway, we bough paint for the kids rooms last night. Well Erik picked it out (I told him about Terri's carmel color idea and he came up with a redish brown). Well the room I'm doing first that has the chair rail we are using the redish brown on the bottom (the pic doesn't show the red as much and I can't figure out why) and the Navajo white on the top.
My question is about the chair rail and other trim. I don't know what color to paint it! Do I use the Navajo white, or just regular white to accent it? Or last night Erik suggested using the pink and boy for each child's room? The pink and blue came with the color pallet we picked. ![]() Those are the colors. I have been working with real rooms but couldn't figure out how to get them up. I'm leaning towards doing the pink and blue for trim but I don't know if the blue will be too much in Tai's room. We were also thinking about when we move these rooms will still be gender netural or great for offices or whatever. But if we add the pink and blue it would take that away but at the same time it wouldn't be hard to paint them a different color later if someone else wanted. What are your thoughts? |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

The pink and blue idea is cool. I see what you're saying about wanting to keep it neutral for resale though. We painted Lauryn's room with blue trim and doors (with pink walls) and it's gonna suck to repaint it, BUT it's perfect for her now and goes with her bedding now and it went well with her crib set too. We hope to move in the next 5 years or so, but you never know and we thought we would paint it like it was our house and not something we were about to sell. You can always do one wall and see if you like it before doing the entire room.

Because I said so, that's why!

Based on the photo you posted, it's all pretty gender neutral IMO. The pink isn't that pink, so I don't think it's going to be a major problem for resale unless they don't like the the whole rooms color. Also - dark colors are much harder to paint over than lighter colors. And dark colors make a room appear smaller. That would be my only concern about you color selection.

Bottoms Up!

I'm a little confused by your color palet vs. what you typed....
So the bottom portion of the chair rail is a reddish brown color, and the top portion will be white?? or camel like the color palet? I really like your idea of making the chair rail pink for Alexandria's room & blue for Tai's room... that gives them more individuality, rather then doing the exact same thing. And you know we're gonna need some pictures once your done. |

Thanks girls. I think I'm just scared about the pink and blue chair rail becuase I have always done white. I did a dark brown in my living room though and love it so I'm crossing my fingers that this turns out as good ![]() |
