the basement!

omg, what a mess when we bought the place. we actually had NO stairs to the basement (the only access to our basement was from the other half of the duplex)...so dh had to cut a hole in the entryway floor and build stairs.

there is a bedroom off the family room, but i have no before pictures, so i'll just post after.


we also fixed the attached bathroom. the bathroom before was only accessible through the furnace room, so we made it accessible off the bedroom and built a wall between it and the furnace room. it wasn't even a bathroom before, just a toilet and shower on bare concrete, so i just finished the floor/finishing this week and dh put the sink in last week and did the ceiling.



this is one of my favorites, because you can really see a big difference.

That is just amazing!!!

We are looking to finish our basement. I keep thinking it's an impossible task... but looking at your pics makes me realize that it's not!!!

Our basement is partially finished... in an enclosed area. We want to knock the walls out and expand it. Then we want to "block off" the furnace, water heater, washer/dryer.... make a big family room and a small study area. We have a darkroom, we'd like to transform that into a bathroom. The plumbing is already there... so that helps.

I really LOVE what you've done! It's got to be such an awesome feeling to be living in a house that you've "built" yourselves!!!
