I love my boys!!

Anyone else have a DH that is effected by the market? I know here in Fl, the market is REALLY bad...martgage and real estate wise. DH has been a mtg broker for the past 9 years. All of his lenders are going belly up, and it's just a matter of time before his biz does too. He works for his dad, and they are holding on by a shoe string. They have not closed a loan in 5 months, and the phone has not rung. With a new baby on the way, and things that keep coming up, we are doing what we can to make ends meet. Dh has been looking for a second job, because when the market is good, he makes really good money....he dosen't want to let that opportunity go. He is trying ot hang in there, as we are, but sooner or later, its going to come to cutting our phones, and our internet service. Like I said, we are making ends meet for now, but when I go on maternity leave, i don't know what is going to happen....
Anyone else effected like us? |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??

No, not like your Dh. For me I shouldn't have to worry about the economy affecting work. People will always need meds. For my Dh he does mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering (MEP consulting). If people stop building, remodeling, etc. then he might be affected but it usually takes a while for it to trickle down. When he graduated there were jobs in the oil business and he was afraid of the market fluctuations involved, so he chose this instead. That comes from growing up in a city where nearly everything depended the oil business.
I know with real estate being slow this may not make sense, but has he thought about about getting a realtor license? The lady we used when we bought did it all and made a fortune! I wouldn't do the all in one package again, but many people do it for the convenience. Are there any hot rod shops around that he could work at and still have fun? Or what about working for a larger mortgage broker like Countrywide or one of the credit unions or banks in the area? He's probably researched these avenues, but I thought I'd throw it out there. |

hot rods aren't that big here, and there are no shops. His dad has is real estate liscense, and he never uses it....there are so many realtors in this area, they are a dime a dozen....there are no real answers besides just waiting it out, to see what happens.

Because I said so, that's why!

The economy effects my job. When times are tight, people don't give as much and churches, libraries and municipalities curtail building/renovation projects. But we are actually seeing an upsurge in business right now. When I was pregnant I was told that there was enough money to pay me till the end of the year, but it really depended if any new jobs came on if I would be working there longer. Nice thing to worry about when your pregnant huh? Especially when my income pays for all the bills. (At least the ones I care about.

So there you have it..... I'm crazy!!

No thank goodness. Everyone needs heat and air conditioning!
Dh does the control work in major businesses, schools / collages, etc. and has more work then he can handle right now. He is doing a lot of it at home just so he can spend some time with us. |

My dh is a database administrator (FT) and an IT instructor (PT). So, he's not really affected by much. Though, his FT job is in the field of pharmacy automation - and as Emma said, "people always need meds." He has so much work that he can't possibly keep up. That's a frustrating situation too.
I don't think many people around the country anticipate an increase in the housing market. I really hope your dh is able to find something else, at least temporarily!!! |

I am affected by the changes in the Stock market...but not real estate...My dh's BF is a owner of a mortgage company and he is adding brokers like crazy because they are so busy...he just opened a new location and asked dh today to revamp his computer systems(dh is a network administrator for a construction firm) and does pc consulting on the side, dh's friend asked me to help him out with some database entry and I will be doing that for him on weekends for some extra cash becuase he doesnt want to have to hire an assistant....because he has to bond these people that is an added expense plus licensing them....i will have to get licensed but because i work for a financial institution im already bonded through the bank I dont have to be re fingerprinted or have the normal regulations most have to go through to get bonded, he just can add my name and im all set, much easier than paying for the whole check to get someone bonded, through work our bonding is quite extensive, they even check the fbi records to see if we have anything out there on us.
