What is 'Wi Fi'? And, when/how do you 'use' it? I'm so confused. Tricia called me this morning and asked, but, I don't have a clue. I know it has something to do with computers and using other equipment with it?????? Please help enlighten Tricia and I

It is wireless internet....basically you hook up a router to send the internet to your laptops or other pcs that are not in the same area as your router...You can then take your pc into another room and still be able to access the internet.

So, am I right by saying that if your computer has 'wi fi' that you can access other wireless internet access elseware regardless of if it's yours or not? Say, at a internet/coffee shop as an example????

Thanks Lisa. I was starting to feel REALLY computer illiterate! DH would SOOOOO me on the head if he knew that I asked such a stupid question. But, I'm just not 'with' all the new terms out there and what does what. I just want to turn it on and know that it works, and really don't care what's 'under the hood'.

Yep, as long as the network isn't secure! LOL! EVery once in a while, I can pickup WiFi at the church where we hold our cubscout committee meetings. I have no idea who's internet I'm using. LOL!

I don't know how I lived without it so long. I'm actually sitting on my bed right now, with my laptop - using battery. So I have no chords or anything, I love it!

ok so let me get this straight. I am slow.

If I take my computer to Starbucks, how do I connect?? Just hit the Internet explorer icon?? I know my computer has an Icon that says WI FI and it is lit up

NOrmally I have a phone cord hooked up and THe I "connect to netscape" and then hit the internet explorer sign.
