The WOMAN Challenge is a great program by the Federal Govt that stands for: Women and girls Out Moving Across the Nation. In past years they sent registrants free pedometers. They will likely do that again.

What is the WOMAN Challenge?
Every May, thousands of women across the country embark on an eight-week physical activity challenge for better health. The WOMAN Challenge (Women and girls Out Moving Across the Nation) is free and open to the public. It begins every year on Mother's Day, to kick off National Women's Health Week. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health coordinates the WOMAN Challenge to encourage women and girls to achieve healthy lifestyles, including at least 30 minutes of moderate activity or 10,000 steps (measured by a pedometer) most days of the week.
All participants have access to an electronic tracking log to record their activity throughout the eight weeks via the website. Individual and team participants set individualized and achievable goals based on their current levels of activity, and have the opportunity to update their goals each week to continually challenge themselves. Registrants also receive weekly motivational e-mails and health tips to help them reach their physical activity and healthy living goals. As part of the WOMAN Challenge, participants choose one of six different virtual routes across America to visually track their progress (see map image, below).
