Because I said so, that's why!

DP is suppose to have his surgery tomorrow. Not sure yet what time but he thinks around 10 am or so. He talked to the doctor today and the tear is up high AND all the way down because it's a weird, long tear. Not the worse the doctor has seen or repaired, but bad. On a positive side, it's still 25% attached.
Which is probably why he has a much movement in his foot as he does. He will have a very long scar from this surgery. He did finally find out what the estimated cost was if he doesn't get charity care - just a mere $15,000 - and with his damage being more severe and needing more time in surgery, more like $20,000 he thinks. Lovely. Will take a long time to pay that off at only $25 - $50 a month. On the negative side, he has been having weird dreams for over a week that he will die in surgery (heart attack, stroke, bleed to death, etc.) so he is a bit apprehensive about it. And when I say I would take the day off work he is like "WHY?". Just drop me off and I'll call you when I'm ready to go home. I tell him so if he drops dead in surgery I'll know right away. The really worst part - for me - is going to be having to deal with him for the next week while he is on bed rest with his leg elevated. Lord help me! ![]() |

Well we arrived just after 8:00 AM Thursday and didn't get out of their till a bit after 6:30 PM. DB just reacts strongly to the anesthesia they use for surgery. Surgery was about 1.5 hours - so not too bad considering how damaged the tendon was. Thankfully the pain killers are working well - and double thankfully they were cheap!
![]() What he forgot to tell me is that he needs a responsible adult with him for 24 hours and I need to go to work tomorrow. So I was calling around tonight to see if any of my relatively close family members could hang out with him tomorrow (normally neither works on Fridays) and one was sleeping and the other wasn't answering his phone (as ussual). So I'm hoping 1 or both call or e-mail be back by morning with a positive reply. ![]() ![]() When they wheeled him into recovery he was loopy as all get out. He seemed rather disappointed at first that he was still alive (he was sure he was going to die - thank you Atenolol) but then he drawels "I'm the Luckiest guy in the world." And in his slurry speech he went on about how he had a beautiful daughter and wonderful girlfriend. A little bit later he said I looked beautiful down in admissions that morning, that I had a glow about me like I did when I was pregnant. And other stuff - it was sweet and sappy. While he told me I didn't need to be there today, he seemed very glad I was there. Though I took off for a short time while he was in surgery to check on some things for work. |
