So, while I was in Florida I did a LOT of walking. On the 2nd day there, my left foot started to hurt, right across the top. The pain continued and got worse through out the time we were there.

A week after I'd been home, there was noticeable swelling, so I decided (with my husband's insistence!) to go see my doctor. He did xrays and said that the "thought" I had a fracture. He rx'd me a post-op boot and suggested I see a specialist.

As the days have gone on, it's started to feel much better. In fact, I've only been wearing the boot while I'm out and about, NOT in the house.

I saw the specialist yesterday. The good news is that the xray was read incorrectly, there is no fracture.

However, what my doctor saw was actually some weird "extra bone" in my foot, and that extra bone is causing irritation to that major tendon/ligament that supports the arch of the foot. He said the irritation is extreme and that's why I"m feeling so much pain.

I walked in there expecting him to tell me that I was healing nicely....and that I no longer had to wear the boot at all.

Instead, he tells me that I'll be in it for a MINIMUM of 4 weeks with 6-8 being more likely. He also informed me that unless I'm taking a shower or sleeping, it *HAS* to stay on, because walking in bare feet could literally cause that tendon to SNAP. ANd, that will require surgery.

He wants to see me back in 4 weeks to determine what course of action is needed after it's been immobilized for a month.

I can't even BEGIN to tell you how frustrated I am about this whole thing.

If he says I need surgery... I certainly will.

The thing that sucks is that Adam and I are going away on vacation, without children, in 2 weeks. And, I'm stuck in this giant thing.

Though, I do admit... when I walk without it... it hurts like an SOB. They made me turn my foot in an unnatural way, yesterday, to take xrays, and it's been bothering me like mad, since.
