Default Oh Emma...

I have a drug question.
What SSRI is normally prescribed for PMDD?

All of them are used for PMDD. Some women tolerate the side effects of one better over another. I'm seeing more celexa, lexapro, and zoloft used recently. Celexa and Zoloft come in generic now, so that may account for the increase use in those 2 drugs. Paxil CR (no generic for the CR), Zoloft, and Serafem (same drug as Prozac which comes in generic) are FDA approved for PMDD.

Jessica, If it is any consolation I would say it was the best thing I could have ever done. I started having problems after Bailey was born. It would start right about ovulation and last until 2 days or so into my period. I WAS A and I couldn't help it. I was short tempered I had NO Patience. I wasn't necessarily tearful.

When I got on Lexapro I was a different woman. In HINDSIGHT, I should have asked for it YEARS ago.

One thing that did help me emensly was taking a B complex AND flax seed. I was able to stay on 10mg LExapro with those.

Good Luck!!!!

I've been noticing that I have head aches, mood swings, wanting isolation, increase in appetite, and extreme fatigue about one week before my period starts. It's bad! I was hoping that removing some things from my diet and working out would help.
I think I will see how my next cycle goes since I started today.
