Hello from no thyroid land!

It's been since forever since I've been here. On facebook all the time, so some of you know that on July 1St I had a complete thyroidectomy. Nodules and Graves Disease and such. Thankfully, no cancer. I'm on synthroid and my dose has gone nothing but up, as has my darn weight. I started out on 88mcg dose... I'm now at 150mcg dose and may need to go up. My body isn't processing the synthroid well.
In looking around on the Google, I found out that part of the Malabsorption of there synthroid may be due to my lactose issues and that synthroid has lactose in it. Grrrr.
I have done tons of reading and in addition to wanting to look into switching meds, I also am cutting out gluten. Lactose intolerance and gluten issues seem to occur together for some people too, can't be too careful when you are suffering, lol.

Now, to again be my own health advocate and read up on gluten free stuff.

It's good to be back ladies!

Sorry to hear you had to have your Thyroid removed. You do have to be your own advocate and it's exhausting, but to get the best care it's what you have to do. Good luck and keep us up to date.
