I might be in the minority here but I think it's too early to really have a feeding/sleeping schedule yet. Babies continue to have lots of growth spurts until about 4-6months of age and will constantly be changing their eating and sleeping habits. I very much believe in feeding on demand, expecially at this young age. Now I do think that setting a daily routine is not such a bad thing. Like Bath, dim lights and a cuddle before bed each evening at the same time or something like that. We always do some playtime, then a bath, and then nurse before bed. Besides that I feed on demand during the day and try to put him down for naps at the same time everyday...but it doesn't always work...I still think he's too young. JMO...I'm curious to see what others have to say.

It's really hard at 3am when they won't go back to sleep easily. Trust me, I'm right there with you! Go to Kellymom.com and read about night waking. It really made me feel alot better about my decision not to CIO yet, or worry too much about having a schedule yet. It is a breastfeeding site but it applies to ff as well and has some great suggestions. While I think some babies can self soothe at go back to sleep at this age, most can not and still need a little help in that area. For me it breaks my heart to listen to Caleb cry and can only handle it for about 2-3min. I hope that as he gets a little older he starts sleeping better and develops his own routine. I can't wait for that because I am soooo tired sometimes after a long night! It can only get better from here ( I hope!)
Suzanne Here is that link...it does talk alot about BFing but waking up to ff in my opionion is the same thing... http://kellymom.com/parenting/sleep/sleep.html |
