I love my boys!!

We have used Nutramagin, switched around a little bit...the Dr's nurse told me the reason he seemed constipated was due to the power formula(i was useing RTF) well when he got sick, they told me to put him back on Nutramagin, and i did, and now they want me to switch again....i go for my 9 mo visit on Friday....but what I wanted to know from you was...what you are useing now, and did Riley get constipated when you went to a milk based formula? we are back on the plain Enfamil-RTF...We started it yesterday, and today he's horribly constipated....it seems like everytime I swtich this happens...he handles yogert/cheese/eggs fine....it's just the formula i think...but if his body just has to get used to it and adjust, maybe I should just wait it out....

Jess,
I'm sorry, dealing with food issues and constipation has been a real nightmare for us so I feel for you !!Rylie's issues are a little different than what your going through. She is sensitive to the RTF and the liquid concentrate, only powder for her. We have her on Similac Lactose Free now. She is not completely "regular", meaning her stools are still really hard but we finally have her at a point where she can pass them without any pain or blood. The strange thing is she can not tolerate Enfamil Lactose Free, so I assume the Similac is easier for her to digest (maybe something to consider - switching brands). She also can not have any cereal at all (gets constipated). She gets a 4 oz bottle of juice everyday which we found really helps soften the stools (along with the fruits and veggies). When we switched to Similac it did take a few days (along with the juice) to get things moving. |

My baby has a chronic constipation problem. What I've found that helps is rotating her solid foods (some things tend to be constipating while others have the opposite effect) but what's really helped is giving her a small bottle (3 or 4 oz.) of water and juice every day. I usually do 1/2 water and 1/2 juice. So far, since I've been doing that, things have been much better....

thanks for all the help. He was perfectly fine 2 days ago, BEFORE i switched his formula. I'm going to talk to the dr tomorrow. Last time when I asked him about it, he told me that it sounded like he wasn't getting enough formula...well, we have not changed how much/when with the bottles, but what we put in it....i'm convinced it's the formula. DH wants to give him whole milk
he dosne't get it....his step mom keeps saying "I started my kids on 1/2 cow milk and 1/2 water when they were 6 months old...it's not going to kill him....." |
