We are using Enfamil Lipil now, but after evrytime he gets a bottle, He has terrible diarrhea, tons of it and foul smelling (like any poop smells good ) I also noticed it since we started yogurt ( both around the same time) and have not given him any yogurt since tuesday.
Could he have some milk intolerance? We never had a problem while he was BF'ing with me eating any sort of dairy, would it all of a sudden show up like that?
Yah know..Hailey did not seem to tolarate the Enfamil Lipil well. I had some sample cans so we tried it. She pooped a lot and got a bad diaper rash. I changed back to the Good Start DHA/RA and she is fine.
That's the same exact thing that happened to Rylie on Enfamil Lipil (horrible diarrhea right after a bottle). We had to put her on Lactose Free (but only Similac, she was constipated on Enfamil), although I do not believe she is actually lactose intolerant.
I guess I should clarify...Hailey did not have diahria(however that is spelled) it seemed like she was more constipated. She would have all these little poops, we would not realize it and that is how she got the rash. It was really strange. I only used it to supplement on the nights I work. When we switched back she went back to normal.
Claire's poops have been different since I switched her from BFing to formula (we're using Enfamil Lipil, also). When we first started giving her more and more bottles instead of BFing, I felt terrible...she was pooping so much more and it smelled so much worse for a day or 2, and I thought "this can't be good for her" but it seems to have calmed down and "normalized". She did have an episode recently where she was spitting up a lot and really cranky....but that was after being on formula for over a month. Now her ongoing issue isn't too much poop, it's constipation, but I think that might have more to do with the solid food she's eating and it gets much better if I give her water and/or prune juice to drink in addition to the formula (strangely, she loves prune juice!) or if she eats less solids.
How long has he been on formula for? Hopefully it's something like what we went through and he just has to get used to it, but definitely keep an eye on it and maybe try a different formula if things don't get better soon.
He's about between 0 and 2 bottles a day since about a week after my BFP. And Like I said it was around the same time we introduced yogurt, which seems to have the same effect. Maybe I will have to try a different one
Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
Re: Is this a reaction to the formula?
I would try a different formula and just see if there's a difference. Thomas didn't tolerate the Enfamil lipil and ended up on Goodstart and did great with it.
We had the SAME issues...i was thinking it was Milk intolerance....maybe ya'll are right...maybe it's just the formula. I will have to try another brand and see if we have the same problems. I also noticed when we went from RTF to powder we had a real problem with constipation..
I bought the lactose free to see if there is any difference. Hopefully he'll stop with the diarrhea. Yesterday It was so bad and smelled so bad I couldn't finish changing him Dh had to while I went and vomited
