Claire has been on formula 100% for the past month. Since Sun., her reflux has been acting up (arching her back, spitting up, very fussy, not sleeping well). The Dr. said it could be b/c of her formula or b/c of the solid food. She said to stop solids until the weekend and then re-introduce them one at a time for a few days at a time. but I'm wondering - how likely is it that it is the formula? If she had problems w/it, I would *think* the problems would have shown up sooner (?). When I called and spoke to the nurse she said there's a stomach bug going around and maybe she has a mild form of it? It's been 5 days.....She hasn't actually been throwing up but she has "chunky spit up" a few times after each feeding....

Hey,
I know I am not donna, but gage had a big issue w/ spitting up and it was w/ anything. I don't think it would be the formula b/c you weren't having that issue b4 but it definately could be something she is eating. Did you add anything new to her diet?? ie banna's w/ strawberry's or the mixed berries, anything like that. That could definately be the culpret. WE had issue's with Gage having a slow digesting stomach, so we noticed that as soon as he ate to much he started spitting up and it was the chunky stuff. We had to give him more frequent smaller meals. He still has the issue today but is it much more under control HTH GoOD Luck. |

I agree with Donna! Dairy allergies are a build up. It acts like a toxin in your body and eventually you have an "overdose" of it. This is when you start getting symptoms like reflux, rosey cheeks, ears, bums, excema, sometimes asthma, congestion, constipation, or diarreha. Some children can go a few months with little or no signs before it is a full blown allergy. My Pedi told me to cut dairy out for at least 8 weeks to notice a change.

Thanks so much for the help! I had a response all typed out earlier but I pressed the wrong key and lost it
Claire had such a hard time last night and this morning after her first bottle. Then, after her second bottle, she only had one instance of crying and it was brief. No spit up. After her 3rd bottle she had some spit up but it didn't seem to bother her. Then she had her last bottle and went to bed, so we'll see..... In the middle of the night I woke up and thought it was probably the formula. That's what I was thinking this morning, too....but now I'm wondering if it was one of the foods or if she was sick. I'm definitely going to hold off on giving her solids for at least a few days, maybe a week. The Dr. recommended not giving her any until the weekend. It's sooo hard when they can't talk to you and tell you how they're feeling! It's all guess-work...... |
