Up until recently, I was BFing and giving one bottle of formula a day. Claire would take 5 or 6 oz. of formula at a time. I recently started giving all formula and she will drink the whole bottle and then act like she wants more! So I tried giving her 8 oz. and the same thing happened. I tried giving her the pacifier afterwards and she just spits it out! She's 17 or 18 pounds and eats 4 times a day. How much do you think I should be feeding her?

When you say she eats 4 times a day.... do you mean in total? Just bottles? Or bottles and food?
Ian pretty much eats whenever he's hungry. I do 3 "solids" meals a day, and he gets as many bottles as he seems to need. He usually takes 6-8 ounces at a feeding, and usually has 4-6 bottles a day, and solid food 3 times a day. He's always hungry. I guess you have to somehow figure out whether or not she's truly hungry by offering her food/bottle more often. Some kids just need to eat more frequently, but smaller portions. Maybe adding another bottle or two during the day would help. I dunno. |

I've been giving her 4 bottles a day & 2 of those times, she's also getting solid food.
Her schedule/routine has been changing lately...she used to go to bed at 8/8:30 but recently started going at 6. We thought that might be too early so we encouraged her to take a nap around 5/5:30 and then put her to bed around 7:30. Well, tonight, I put her in her crib (I think it was around 6:00 but I actually wasn't looking at the clock). I was thinking it was a nap but now I think she may be down for the night....and the last time she ate was at 3:00 |

Carter is getting about three 7 oz bottles and sometimes a 4 oz bottle at night. He is also getting 3 meals a day. This is in addition to the 3 - 4 times he nurses a day.
Carter is a little chunker though. At 7 months he is a very healthy 21 pounds. He is one of the biggest in his nursery class. :) Maybe we shouldn't be feeding him so much, but the ped said to feed him until he is full. He would keep eating forever if we did that. :) |

Caleb eats ALL the time. He nurses every 2-3hrs when he's with me and at daycare takes a 5oz bottle every 2 hours. We have also started solids once a day and a snack of fruit and puffs as well. Maybe she just needs to eat smaller amounts more frequently?

If Ty says it's big, then trust him - it's BIG!

I cant really say since we feed on demand. I try to give Ty 3 solid meals but he ends up snacking on solids as well as bottles. Some days he will eat 6 or so 6 oz bottles a day (not including nights) and others he may eat 6 oz all together during the day.
Maybe shes going through a growth spurt? |
