Ok, Austin has gotten where he really doesn't eat a lot. I can't get him to eat any veggies. He likes potatoes, he'll eat chicken sometimes, and like ham & turkey from the deli. He still nurses some, mainly before we go to bed, once or twice during the night, and if we're not running late, once in the morning before we leave. He's not really gaining much weight at all and that has be a little worried. Even when you can get him to eat, it's not much at all. He will eat breakfast (yogurt, eggs, biscuits, pancakes, & french toast) pretty well. They say he does ok at DC. It just seems at dinner time, it's like pulling teeth to get him to eat. Any suggestions?
No suggestions, I think this is something that they all go through...Kate is the same way...once they turn 1 they really slow down in growth and really dont gain all that fast like when babies...Kate has been 29lbs now for the last 6 months.

The first year is when they really gain weight. Mine also doesn't eat much after DC. One thing that does some times work is putting her in the tub and letting her eat in there. Maybe because there is not as much going on in the bathroom so she is more willing to eat.
We went through the same thing with Carson and to this day he still isn't that big on dinner. What I've been doing for a while now is when I pick him up from DC I give him a small snack, like raisins, fruit, yogury & a sippy of milk. When it's dinner time and if he's not hungry (which usually he's not) I don't force him to eat. There's always food at the table for him and usually he'll come grab a bite or two, but if he's not ready to eat then I save it for later. By 7pm he's hungry and ready to eat dinner and so I reheat it for him and that's when he eats. Also, Carson is not a big meat eater. He likes hamburger meat and chicken nuggets and that's about it. So usually I give him lots of veggies and then the rest is usally carbs of some sort.
My uterus is screaming at me to MAKE MORE BABIES!!
My old DCP told me there are windows of hunger for kids. That if they say they are hungry or are acting hungry, and they wait, they may not eat so well. I know that if I make Loralei wait until 7 for dinner, she barely eats anything, if she eats between 4-6, she eats really well. Same thing for almost any meal.
On the veggies, I never gave the kids a choice. They get the veggies on their plate and if they don't eat them, they don't get a snack later. They both eat them really well, and have favorite veggies. My husband isn't a big veggie fan, but we both get excited over the green beans (peas, carrots, broccoli, etc), and that works here. I am kind of a stickler on eating the good stuff. Josalyn even gets salad when we do. Maybe some fun shapes or design on his plate would work? Any way to make it fun, play with his food! Maybe make him some dip for his veggies and give them to him raw. My kids eat a lot of veggies better raw.
Some people eat the bigger meals earlier in the day. Actually, a lot of what I had read when I was dieting said that breakfast should be your largest meal. Both of my kids eat more for breakfast and lunch, than they do for dinner. Maybe it is natural to do so?

Makes sense to me...Kate does eat better if I feed her as soon as we get home from DC at 515-530ish if I wait till Ed gets home at 615-630 she wont eat as well.
