"Mom, put Ty back in your belly ~ he keeps touching my toys"
So he's allergic to pears
and I found out the hard way! I gave Tyler pears on Friday due to constipation from all the rice cereal and I figured it is the least allergic of the foods....well Friday he was okay ish-but increased gas and so I gave him a small amount today and he is miserable, spitting up a lot, gas pains, cranky. I feel so bad since I caused his pain. I was going to wait on solids until 6 months but since the pedi pushed the cereal issue and I was starting to feel like this allergy thing is all in my head, I thought what the hell, he is 4 months. I am so mad at myself! My poor baby. He has been in bed 2 hours and has already woken up 2 times to burp and fart a bunch. Gonna be a long night, buthey they all are these days!
That doesn't sound like an "allergy" to me. Perhaps they are just causing a bit of extra gas. Typically, a food allergy would consist of a rash/hives/swelling/respiratory issues. Gastro issues are usually a sign of an intolerance or an immature digestive system, not an allergy. So, I would not write it off just yet... just give some time before reintroduction.

Thanks Kris.....I have been meaning to Pm you some questions about food stuff. I forgot to mention, he had an eczema flare up and congestion too-itching his eyes that sort of thing. I think I will wait to reintroduce in a few months. I still feel pretty guilty though.
Have you thought about pulling him off all solids for now. If you felt pushed by your dr then don't do it!! You will know when he is ready, you are his mom.
His tummy might enjoy just getting bm or formula.

I would take him off solids completly for awhile. Liriel didn't get any until 5.5 months, and then only because I couldn't pump enough BM for DC. At home she had almost no solids - other than a bite here and there till about 8-9 months.

Thanks girls! I did stop all solids, last night did suck but I think he is feeling better so I am hopeful for a good night tonight. He has his 4 month check up on Friday so I will talk more about it to the doc then. Thanks again!
