I love my boys!!

With Michael we used Dr. Browns. He had a lot of colic issues and gas, and they were a Godsend. My cousin had a premie, and sent me cases of Medala bottles, and bags upon bags of nipples from the hospital. Do you think i should push again for more Dr Brown's, or just use the cases of bottles I have(that also I believe attach to my pump)
I really want to BF this one, but I want to pump as well, so people can help with the feedings, and I can have a break. What's your oppinions? |

My uterus is screaming at me to MAKE MORE BABIES!!
|
Don't give a bottle too early in babies life if you breastfeed. Most LC's say to introduce it around 1 month and not earlier. I never had success with bottles with my girls, but the Avent bottles were the best of any with them. You just don't buy tons of one bottle until you know what baby will take.

Because I said so, that's why!

Liriel like the vent air bottles. Though I never really used the Dr.Browns to feed her - mainly for storing EBM. LOL
I wouldn't worry about letting other people feed the baby. Because you will need to pump instead of nurse and it's going to be more work if you do it that way. IMO at least. When you nurse you have an excuse to sit down and relax. Let someone else run after Michael, because your job the first couple months will be to feed the baby. Now pumping to get some BM in the freezer if you have to go back to work or for an occasional trip out without the baby is not a bad idea. But if you drop too many nursing sessions your going to have supply issues. You also don't want to introduce a bottle or other artificial nipple too early - recommended 4-6 weeks of age if everything is going well with nursing - to avoid nipple confusion. If you are using EMB in the bottles, you will probably be using smaller bottles for some time - at least I always was. But that depends on the baby and mother. From everything you post over the last 2 years - I just see you pumping, giving the baby and bottle to someone else, and then you will be off doing some other work. And pumping isn't necessarily faster than nursing. Where if you have to nurse, you will actually get some down time to rest. Which you really, really need as a new mother. |

Men Just Love To Stare At My Monster Nipples!!!

I wouldn't stock up on bottles. If you are primarly nursing you won't need more then a few bottles. (I'm assuming that you would store your milk in the bags that most of us have used.)
To be honest I never worried about bottles. I knew that I had a few different brands so I just left it at that. |

Giving away FREE crotch extenders -- do I have any takers??
|
Thomas would only take Dr Brown's for a short while and then would only take Avent. Lauryn took the Avent. You just never know what they are going to like. Take any freebies and hold off buying a bunch of bottles. You can always ask for bottles on your registry and exchange them later on if you don't use them.

Yes... I'm an arcade addict!!

Carter used Avent and never had a problem. Addison on the other hand will only tolerate them. I haven't tried anything else yet, so I don't have any other suggestions.
I would hold off on buying any bottles and see what this new guy likes. |
